…promoted to being a Championship referee for the upcoming season. Someone give me a valid reason to say it’s not a ‘tick box’ exercise as some of the decisions she made last season in League 1 were outstandingly bad.
Its Welch and she's at the WC and regularly refs WSL matches including the FA Cup Final....if she is crap, shes in good male company.....just saying...
She was bad in the games in charge of us. But tbh, most were. Standard of referees is very poor for the majority, particularly at this level.
What brings you joy in life, Scott? You’ve got some competition but you have to be one of the most miserable buggers on here.
A female ref called Kirsty Dowle was the best ref I saw last season. Hopefully she moves up the leagues quickly
I saw her referee once last season. She was awful, she lost control and ruined the game, in all likelihood cost us two points and seemed to lose either fitness or interest or both before the end. However, she wasn't the only one like that we had last season and I'm not going to judge anyone based on one game. The top most worrying things about refereeing for me are:- 1) For refs I've seen 4 or 5 times it has become entirely predictable as to how they are going to referee a game including whether they will give both sides a fair crack of the whip. That is as sickening to me as anything in modern football. The Tim Robinson 'performance' was just nailed on to be what it was. 2) Outside the very top refs - Michael Oliver and maybe 2-3 others, the standard is generally poor. It's hardly a case of the cream rising to the top, more a case of the least bad rising to the top. 3) Poor performance is rewarded, or at least not punished - whether ref A or ref B should be promoted or not is one thing but how have guys as totally pish poor as Eltringham, Stroud and co managed to stay around as long as they have, ruining game after game, week after week and not had their constant stream of mistakes seen them put back to parks football? The best three refs we had imho last season were Ross Joyce, Josh Smith and Andrew Kitchen not because they got every little thing right in every game, they didn't, but they didn't influence results with their decisions, took even-handed approaches from the off, tried to let the game flow and were fit enough to be up with play and in good positions throughout regardless of differing playing styles of the opposing teams.
Never mind her gender just judge her on her performances - poor referee. Ross Joyce the best L1 ref by a mile- including the sending off - Watters?
