A nice gentle topic to get the memories flooding back.
On Ed Stewart's Saturday and Sunday mornings childrens radio shows.

    Puff the magic dragon.
Little boxes on the hillside made out of ticky tacky.
    Sparky's magic piano.
All bound for Morningtown, many miles away.
Right around the corner there's a hidden cave and we can watch those Cherokees go galloping by.
    Paddy McGinty's goat.
    Little white bull.
The king is in the altogether.
Robin Hood, riding through the glen.
There once was an ugly duckling.
    Three little fishes (Frankie Howerd)

I'll stop there to let you lot have a go !!

But I bet you that you'll have some of these songs in your head all day now, unavoidable.

One or two conspicuous omissions. It still reads like a groomers greatest hits. If that’s not too cynical..?

One of my earliest musical memories was on a junior school trip to Flamingo Park when I had a go on the pedal go-kart circuit. The Animals, House of the Rising Sun was blasting out on the PA....

I’ve always stated that the first single I bought was “ I like it “ by Gerry n the Pacemakers.
It only in the last few years that I really became aware of the lyrics…. check them out !!

My dad used to sing the “Ovaltinies” song. An advert from the early years of Radio Luxembourg.

My earliest concrete memory. As far as these things are to be trusted....is being in bed aged about three or four and hearing Downtown by Petula Clark coming from the record player downstairs.

I've just picked this up from Mark Steel. Apparently there is a sign in Northampton:
