I think you miss the point that the Nationwide isn't a bank, its a building society. You can pay cash into any bank at the post office. You can't pay into some building societies, the Nationwide being one of them.
By next June, I'll be living on a narrowboat permanently, no fixed abode. Bank accounts are not too much trouble. The only issue with no fixed abodes is car insurance, but there are work arounds.
Oooh I knew there’d be someone here to put me straight. Or have you? I wish I could aspire to be a better person, like you I mean. So good of you to guide me in this way. I’ll always be grateful for your help.
Not missed the point mate. Troff referred to paying into any bank account at the post office. I can't pay into my Nationwide bank account at the PO.
If you're paying that much extra for card payments, I'd suspect the business can easily swallow it or you're not getting the best deal from your bank. My last place of employment, with a branch on c£18m pa turnover with around 75% card payments (£13.5m), it didn't cost anywhere near that. Now self employed card payments cost us 0.25%, tho mainly use bank transfer for payment. Yes they used to be a burden, but costs have dropped hugely in recent years.
I have a current account. Click this link and you will see a range of Nationwide's BANK accounts to choose from: https://www.nationwide.co.uk/current-accounts
Does that matter though? The point of the conversation was that someone (can’t remember who now after all this) said it was difficult to pay cash into their account. Someone (no idea who) then dismissed their problem with the comment that it’s really easy to pay cash in through post offices. What the specific name or type of the account is is moving away from the main point which was that the first person was basically accused of exaggerating the problem, which clearly they weren’t as they can’t pay cash in, like they said in the first place, and that problem still hasn’t actually been addressed.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationwide_Building_Society You can keep going all you like, but you bank with a building society mate
google "is nationwide a bank or a building society?" You can't have a bank account with an institution that is not a bank. Whether the Post Office discriminate due to this is summat else.
Well if the first person has a building society account, they may find it difficult to pay in cash (I don't know, as I don't have one)....but if they have a bank account they can pay in at any post office ( Nationwide is a BS)
