Seriously, how can you tell that? He made mistakes undoubtedly but he looked to get in the game and got a fair few free kicks our way.

Understand totally what you're saying. However whilst I don't think he's showed us enough to start I do think there's something there and if he was called in then a run off games would help.
In any sport, getting hame time is crucial.

Based soley on my opinion when av watched him Helen..loses ball dunt track back. walks when he should be running. doesn't offer himself or take up good positions when we push out.
as others have said Collins may get a tune out of him but my personal view is he wouldnt be pushing for a start.many on here concerned about the lack of experience at this level for some of our new guys but this guy has that experience and what has it got us... as always happy to be proved wrong if he suddenly turns into Messi..

The main reason we lost at Wembley was because Duff opted to start Tedic instead of Norwood.

I cannot get my head around why people cannot see that we played the best part of 100 minutes on a hot day with 10 men & still look to blame one individual for losing the game, its taking being the scapegoat to a new level , people have to play the blame game instead of looking at the big picture , there are numerous things what you can point to but we lost its as simple as that and to try & put that down to one player is frankly pathetic .

He was bone idle when he came on and the fact that his teammates had been running their ******** off for the best part of 100 minutes on a hot day and he couldn't even muster up a jog despite sitting his arse on the bench for the majority of the match tells me everything I need to know about his pathetic lack of effort that day (and frankly every day I've ever seen him 'play'

It's more pathetic that you excuse his lack of effort because someone else was trying hard. THAT is what is failing to see the big picture. Or it's seeing the big picture but with cataracts so you are unable to distinguish anything going on in the picture. It's a very simplistic view to say 'i saw men run around so they all must have'

I am not a Russell fan , he has yet to win me over & I make no excuses for him or any player what does not put the effort in ,but what I do not like is when someone is made a scapegoat when clearly there was more to losing the game than blaming some individual for not picking a player up when they had a spare man ,& once again because I dont agree with the bully boys on here I get personal comments aimed at me , well this time & I am being genuine here, I had cataracts in both eyes & had operations last year with replacement lenses put in so my eye sight was perfect thankyou , we can debate football issues all day long but do me a favour & cut out the personal crap .

No more personal than saying somebody's opinions are prophetic just because they believe that the 11 are possibly maybe even up to 16 17 18 people on a football pitch are different people and that James Norwood running his blood to water doesn't ex use John Russell walking around. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it without being told it is pathetic which is fine by your by the way but when I responding kind I'm being personal and you're offended well it works both ways sweetheart

If I remember right you also slated watters after the final for been bone idle and said kitching ran and had a go at him after the goal went in. It did look like that to me but I couldn't be certain.
But we were down to ten men Norwood had nothing left and was totally spent so that's 9 a red hot day after 120minutes it's hard to just blame on individual for losing that game I agree with the other poster.

I didn't blame one person. I actually said "I agree it wasn't solely down to him but his lack of any basic effort massively contributed to the goal. That can't be argued really. Would they still have scored if he'd tried? Maybe. Did they definitely score when he didn't try? Absolutely"

Russell wasn't to blame for us losing but his contribution was shameful and certainly contributed to the goal being conceded.

I didn't slate Watters, call him bone idle or say that Kitching had a go at him. I asked what Kitching was having a go at a Wednesday player for, someone else said it was Watters he was having a go at and you replied saying Kitching probably told Watters a thing or two he didn't like because you hardly noticed him when he came on.

Ah must have it mistaken thought it was you who was having a go at watters for not tracking back and also said kitching had a go at him.

He started Tedic so Norwood could play the second half and if necessary extra time. Norwood said the other day that Duff changed the strikers after 60 minutes so he didn’t build up the fitness to play much more, shown by him getting cramp at the end

Can I just say Thomas, Mads and Kitching had chance to clear the ball up field but all fluffed their clearances. Bobby Thomas got no yardage and the rest is history. I personally blame him and glad we sent him to Coventry.

Very good game in my opinion. Was best midfielder on pitch until he went off.

Did everything he needed to, kept it simple and kept things moving in middle. Then topped it off with a superb header.

He was off the pace until we got on top. Looks a different player in a winning confident side.

He was good today. Never looks rushed and sometimes when the opposition are on top of us, it looks/seems like the game is passing him by.

I was worried how much we’d miss Luca today but our midfield 3 were all fantastic.
