The NY move out perfectly for him, fair play. Well played Struber. Hope he does well - really like hkm.
I liked Struber and I feel he’s underrated by some on here - but let’s not get too carried away. RB Salzburg have taken him on but he’s not that long ago left New York red bulls having won only one game from eleven and sitting bottom of their conference at the time. He’d done pretty ok for the first two seasons admittedly, but had more than stagnated. Hope he does well at Salzburg but I can’t see him tipping up at Leipzig unless he does something extraordinary.
And whilst he was playing we were only going one way. Until Styles was given his chance. And Walton for Radlinger.
Radlinger certainly didn’t cover himself in glory, but when Struber came in we hadn’t won in 18 or 19 games. It was never going to be an instant turn around. I only really remember Styles making a big impact when Val came in.
Benefited from Covid imo, the last two matches before that he hasn't a clue how to get a win. But he did keep us up and at the end of the day that's what matters.
Yes he did, and it was also thanks to some ludicrous comedy shenanigans and tom foolery in the Wigan Fc boardroom!. But when he/we did that, it really brought back good memories again of the Flicker escape act season.
I remember. Styles was immense under Struhber. Imho The turnaround in results showed it. And I think Walton was also a saviour. Plus that last minute goal helped lol.
Remember this from the Struber escape act season ehh lol. Here's the Tykes Tv lads reactions, when we did Notts Florist 1-0 in stoppage time in our last home game of that season, to keep the dream alive!!.
I must be remembering things different but I can’t remember any relegation talk when Struber left. What I remember is everyone knew he was leaving for NY Red Bulls for weeks & it was a case of compensation been agreed & just a general relief that it was finally all sorted & we could get on with our season when he did leave. Imagine if Duff would’ve taken the first four games of this season even though we all know he wanted to join & was about to join Swansea. There’s no doubt that results & performances would’ve been effected like they were under Struber.
Fairly certain the points per game ratio Val had, we would have gone up automatically had he been in charge for the first 7 games of the season! Obviously, nothing set in stone in that regard. We may have lost that first 7 under Val. But would have loved to have seen what could have been.
