To be fair though whenever I go down to the head office in Birmingham there’s a Chinese girl who works in the office and she’s always mimicking my Barnsley accent and taking the piss out of me, it’s proper funny,

That's not a race thing though is it?

I guess it is just a sore subject of mine thats all. I had a Chinese girlfriend for a few years and used to regularly get people taking the piss with the stereotypical accent and going on about take aways. I just don't get why that is fair game but mimicking an Indian/ Pakistani accent and linking them to curries or corner shops is unacceptable?

Just find it inappropriate and Manning-esque humour.

My favourite comedians are Frankie Boyle and Billy Connolly so hardly a prude.

Can see I'm in the minority though, including the Admins @Farnham_Red which is disappointing, so will leave it there.

I think you probably are in the minority over the joke in question - I wouldn't have posted it and I certainly wouldn't tell it where there may be Chinese or Asians around, but in my personal view its not particularly funny but also its not particularly offensive.
Some Chinese may disagree of course as do you which is fair enough.

I dont see it as being much worse than any jokes that make fun of a Yorkshire accent or the fact that Yorkshiremen are "careful with their money,"
I'm not offended by such jokes and would put them in the same category as joke that hints quite a few Chinese run takeaways in this country.
By the way I am speaking purely personally and not on behalf of Admin and its possible the other Admins are in agreement with you.

Seems a bit contradictory to me to suggest something isn't offensive but also suggesting you wouldn't tell the joke to the group it's aimed at. I think TitusMagee is spot on with his comments on this. It's inappropriate at best.

Putting aside the takeaway stereotype aspect, the way the dialogue is typed out with the Rs and Ls thing isn't relevant to the punchline. That's just lazy racism that isn't even necessary for the purposes of the joke.

That’s what bothered me about it. I was feeling a bit uncomfortable about the way it was written whilst reading it but waiting for the punchline where something they said had an ambiguous meaning because of the way it was written. In the end though, it was completely unrelated to the joke and the punchline would have still landed just fine without the fake accent.

As well as his observational humour, Frankie Boyle takes the piss out of anyone and everything and is probably just as controversial as Bernard Manning. I get what you're saying about that joke but then to say Frankie Boyle is your favourite comedian seems a bit contrary.

A woman visits the doctor's and told him that she had a constant discharge. " Ok, just remove your undies and jump up on the couch " The doctor inserted three fingers in her vagina and says, " How does that feel ?" " ******* lovely, but the discharge is from my ear !"

I was chatting to a bird in a nightclub . She whispered , do you fancy coming back to mine, I've got a fanny the size of a polo. "I said" Oh yes" . When we got back to her place I pulled down her knickers and gasped.. She said, " surprised?" I said " Totally. I thought you meant the mint not the ******* hatchback!!
