I know - I meant along the lines of maisin du biere, the one off Wellington Street that had to shut after only being open a year (Elsecar one still doing well though). There's the odd place in town like Spiral City that has the odd proper craft ale on but no dedicated place that does multiple ones. In contrast to the dozens of places in town that have opened and sell stuff you can get anywhere. At this rate I'll have to open my own place!
Has the beer improved by Jolly Boys I’ve always found it poor .Surprised Ossett haven’t opened a place somewhere in tarn
Right. We need to club in. The BBS (Barnsley beer syndicate) - to rent a unit and open a cask and craft venue in the glassworks. Any takers?
Definitely - the one at Hudds Station is a great place to finish/start an evening. Are they? That would be fantastic. Their brewery tap and the pubs they own are great.
I’d have though something like a Wagamamas would do well in the square to go with the other offerings it’s something we haven’t had really in town or a yo sushi
I'm always intimidated by Yo Sushi. I never worked out what to do with the stuff on the dishes spinning around you and now I think its too late to not know...
Barnsley council have commenced enforcement action against The Salt House / Black+White due to substantial unpaid rents. I'm sure they were offered the units at significantly reduced rates anyway. Not a good look.
Not good news looks like it will be another vacant lot. I don’t believe we need many more bar/restaurants like that but once the bridge is open the square should be buzzing on match days and a pub like Brewdog or Head of Steam would go well.
They’ve put a statement out on their website saying that they’re surprised at what BMBC have done and are in the process of dealing with it,
I think post-COVID, they've stopped putting the food out on the conveyors. It's all made to order, or at least the one in York is like that now which is a shame as I quite like a Kaitenzushi. It's all ordered on the app and the conveyor delivers it to you. I also feel like it's gone downhill and the service is pretty rubbish. For reference though and if this helps, the plates are often colour-coded with different prices when the conveyor is working properly and you just pick what you want and they tally up the totals at the end. You can usually also order hot food or miso soup from the waiter. Apart from that, you can dip the Sushi and Sashimi in Soy sauce and or wasabi. There's also pickled ginger, which originally was supposed to be a palette cleanser between mouthfuls although I, like many people, just chucked it on top of a piece of Sushi/Sashimi
