That's ok by me. Two seasons ago I would by a programme & 2 half time draw tickets. This year I'll buy a programme and 1 ticket or not bother getting a programme and save £3.

Soon be a thing of the past. I still buy them, every home programme since 1977 and every printed away programme since 1981.

Do programmes have posters in them for kids to put up on their bedroom wall? I’ve not bought one in ages and can’t remember.

I have a programme from the first match I ever attended - a 2-1 victory over Leeds in August 1955. It cost 3d. There were 240 pennies in a pound in those days, so you could get 80 programmes for £1, and 320 for the price of 1 2023-4 programme.

I really wouldn’t mind if they stopped printing them, because they’re expensive, way bulkier than they used to be, so take up more room, and as a rule they are not interesting to read. I have every home one, bar a few friendlies, since 1955 (I’m a few short of the complete 54/55 season), but I slowed down with the away ones and decided just to get one from every team we’ve played away. It’s just the more obscure friendlies now that I’m looking for, but it’s some time since I came across one I haven’t got, so I think that well is running dry.

A second best would be to put more historical stuff in them, to make them interesting to read. I used to enjoy the pieces Dave Copping wrote in them, and more recently Dave Wood wrote some excellent pieces. Maybe lengthy interviews with ex-players would be good, as interviews with current players all tend to be a bit samey, as they are going to be very careful what they say. Ex-players would be more likely to give more honest opinions and tell a few stories that they wouldn’t dare if they were still employed by the club. Just watch the podcasts that Jon Parkin does. Some of the stories told on there are hilarious. Watch the Andy Johnson one. He’s a complete nutcase.

But stopping printing them would be great, as I am running out of space. I was a bit disappointed when the secretary at Forest Green told me they didn’t do them though, because it was a new opponent. He offered to send me a team sheet, but after we relegated them I didn’t hear from him and thought I’d best let that one lie!

Not bought one in donkey's years. I've got a pile of them in the garage, one or two interesting ones including Liverpool away, League Cup 81/82.

Brill, might have to get one. My kids wall (to my disgust!) is currently covered in premier league players from his MOTD magazines, he’d love some Barnsley ones

Not really. Not Barnsley anyway. So many were printed. Rarity is the key. My oldest is from the 50s
I genuinely had a bloke that offered me £1k (yes £1000) for 1 programme v mddlesborough at home 80s I think. (Day his daughter was born) He used to travel with us. Sadly passed away 3/4 yrs ago. As we were talking programmes as I said I had every one from 1979 (my eldest birth yr) home and away to that present day. And hundreds b4 79. After a few things and froings of telling him I wouldnt part with it and not to be so stupid with the offer. I said I would give it him rather than do that.
Mi lad joined conversation. Said to him 'I'll get thi it for a fiver." £3 + £2 postage EBAY. He couldn't believe it. I dont think mi lad charged him at all. And said person bought him a drink int mount week after when he gave it him.
    As for my 2500+ collection.
Mi lad sez "what yer going to do wi em dad".
Me. " Pass on to you.Ian"
Him " What will I want em for and nowhere to put em. Gerrem sold dad" that's when I Stopped buying em about 7 yrs ago. Only big games. play offs etc.
I have quite a few from the prem someone dumped on me after her husband died. Obviously repeats of what I already have. And didnt have the heart to refuse as she/he wanted me to have em.
Bit long winded I know. But I'm sat ont beach nowt else better to do. Lol.

Lincoln City have announced they are no longer producing them. It is too expense to produce them and little take up due to price.
