Our programme isn't too bad compared to some other offerings. MK Dons one was terrible, just full of adverts.
I've had a similar conversation with my lad! I've over I've over 20,000 programmes now - all neatly packed in the loft - just put last seasons up. Ar lass thinks I'm nuts and she's probably right. Always try to get one from away games but stopped buying the home one towards the back end of last season. It wasn't so much that I'm tying to kick the habit, it's just ours is soooo bad. I mean really bad. If you get beyond the 50% of adverts, it's just full of poor copy. A £4 price tag will help me kick the habit for good in the coming season. PS. always buy fanzines from wherever I can get them.
I had to have a pretty serious operation 20 years ago, with a chance I might not come out the other side. The missus had lots of messages of support and offers of help, but the ex-poster on here known as Direwatch said to her (tongue in cheek I should add) “if he dies can I have his programmes”!
Wow. some collection that mate. I know a few collections a lot bigger than mine but I'd think that'd take some beating.. probably 3 x more than barnsley have played games. I used to collect other sporting and entertainment programmes but amount to around 200 only . Fair play mate..I'll show this to mi mrs. At least I can point to someone more insane lol.
20,000 programmes ??? - you must collect from other clubs apart from BFC ? I collect Firsts and Lasts - First game of a club promoted to FL or relegated out of FL. Also last match at a ground before relocating to new ground and programme of first match at a new ground.
Yes, I inherited a lot! I've had quite a few house moves over the years and it's fair to say carting these along for another move, with all the editions of When Saturday Comes, 1000's of books and other sundries - gets quite tiring. I did manage to throw away several thousand copies of Shoot! and Goal a few years ago in an attempt to save one of my marriages - it didn't work! I'm approaching the age now (I'm the age of the average Barnsley fan - let's call us the 'Iley Out/Glavin generation') where I'm wondering what the hell I'm going to do with all this lot. To me it's precious (for all kinds of sentimental reasons) but to others.......
