Amen. How many issues have we seen caused by people standing at Oakwell? Zero? How many issues will clamping down on this cause? Loads.

At the very least, safe standing should be included in any plans to replace the West Stand which would be a little or no cost addition to what will obviously be a major construction project. This would leave the rest of the stadium unaffected.

Disagree. I've sat at the Corner Stand side of the Ponty for 25 years and I often stand the entire match. Not through choice but through necessity, because everyone in front of and around me is standing. For big matches groups of lads will stand in the gangways as well.
    The stewards do nothing.

Does it apply to the urinals, because I do take a little longer these days?

This is my point. I assume the Main (West) Stand will be developed at some point in the next 50 years. It would be nice to hear the Club commit to improving choice when watching the Reds as part of any future development proposals. . I know many of us have grown old watching the reds and the average age of the fans must be mid fifties, but having the option to sit or stand is a very progressive thing to do. All seater stadiums need to ne consigned to the past.

Some fans stand up for too long.
They know the rules and so do I!
    It’s only themselves that they’re thinking of…
Don’t blame Khaled or the SAG guy…

we don’t want you standing up,
We just want you sitting down
We don’t want fans running round
    Someone might hurt you

We don’t want to stop singing
We just want you all thinking
About the trouble we’ll get in
    If they report you…

(to the tune of Never Gonna Give You Up if it wasn’t clear…)

Speaking as somebody who hardly gets down these days because my knee is knackered,I just can’t stand that long so if I’ve paid for a seat I expect to be able to put my bum on it without some selfish sod in front of me wanting to stand up all game.

I can't see there being much of a standing problem this season. If the pre-season is anything to go by.

I'm actually more of a fan of seated stadiums than the old standing ones, simply because of the view. Especially for the young uns or vertically challenged adults.

So yeah if someone is stood up for most of the match with people seated behind them, they should be asked once to refrain from doing so. If they continue, simply escort them to the exit.

What I don't agree with is the logic behind and I quote from the clubs statement 'Standing in areas that are designed for seated accommodation can be dangerous'.
    Utter BS.

Nearly as bad as when we could only sit down outside pubs for a pint during covid, obvs as soon as you stood up then you would catch covid and spread it.

I'd rather the club go down the comms route of 'Think about your fellow supporters and refrain from standing for long periods as you will obscure their view and enjoyment. We have no issues at times such as to celebrate goals etc with supporters standing' summart like that. But to claim it's dangerous to stand up meh.

    Another thing...

Why has the worst chant ever 'stand up if you love....' not been outlawed across all clubs?

I’ll be honest, I do (did after this news) stand at games. I prefer to and don’t think I’d enjoy going to the football and sit down. It’s just my preference.

However, I am considerate to others. I’ve moved to areas where the seats are empty if others around me are sat. And I’ve offered to swap with people behind me loads of times. I’ve never ruined it for someone behind me though. Wouldn’t be inconsiderate of others.

I don’t often go to Saturday games anymore though, I still manage to kick it about Saturday afternoons but when I haven’t got a game I go non league. No objection to standing there. :D

So now the pitch side announcer will be telling everyone to sit down every two minutes, on top of the racist & sexist chanting announcements. Games this season will go back to the Accrington level of atmosphere from last season.
