I'm with a couple of others on this thread in that I don't think he's as good as he's being made out to be. Even when he was apparently fully fit last season he generally only played about 60 minutes, he didn't have the legs then and would possibly find it even more difficult this season dependent on what role Collins wants. However, he undoubtedly gives us something that none of the others do - a more physical presence, a but of nous and yes, at times a bit of sh*thousery. I hope we are replacing him because if not, in this league with big, strong defenders, I predict a return of 'hairy-arsed' forward posts within the next couple of months. I think Watters has something and a run of games might see it emerge. But it's not being big, strong and physical. And Cole, Shaw, Marsh, Jalo, Iseka definitely aren't and Dallas doesn't appear to be. A replacement is required. On a slightly different tack - I posted weeks ago that I was concerned about Khaled's Swedish interview and suggested Duff may have had a change of mind about the job if he'd been told that the make up of the squad was going to shift further towards youth. At the time I said that we'd see what happened over the coming weeks and a few weeks later I'd suggest that's what we are seeing. I very much hope I'm wrong but right now I'm not expecting us to be as strong as last season.
Gunna be next Bradford City. Best supported team in League 2 with a team full of kids. Nothing against that at all if they were up front and honest about it.
We don’t have anyone else that gives us what Norwood does. Giving him a new contract then letting him leave for a national league team without kicking a ball for us in the new season - just defies belief for me. Summat must have gone off.
Absolute disgrace whatever has happened to let a seasoned centre forward go 2 days before the season starts and not have a replacement sorted is disgusting….over 9k season ticket holders have been mugged off
he’s never succeeded in any league above L1 ( for 1 season) and has eked his career out in Scottish leagues
I think he's off they've got a striker on par with prime Harry kane for the national league. Seriously though I'd have liked to see him stay seemed a good character good to have around but defence will be the problem next season. And people didn't make this much of a fuss when conman sold kieffer moore for peanuts 4 days before the window shut.
I reckon when Khaled came in his goal was to increase season ticket revenue. Nothing else. This explains the seasons of boom and bust. After a good season fans jump in. Like this season. Next season he couldn't give a f cuk he has your money now. That's why match tickets are £26 a pop. Don't care about the agnostic it's the die hards they've already got.
He was in the Scottish league for 1 season? Norwoods never played above league one and he's 33 he's dropping 2 divisions to play in a pub league for a club who are skint.
And Shaw. I will let you round up to the nearest number. Same for Jalo. You can round up his goal contribution. Losing one of your few proven at this level forwards 2 days before the season starts is just daft. Whatever Norwoods individual merits. Shaw won’t get more than 1 or 2 league goals. Jalo won’t play much. So you are hoping that Cole repeats his one off season and Watters who looked poor but has an ok record. You have no real cover of any real ability.
Five credible L1 ones, at least, which is less than the promoted teams had last season. If Norwood, the best of them all round by a country mile, is gone then we have 1, Cole, who is currently proven at this level (although even his home/away splits are vastly different). Watters has the pedigree, if he recaptures pre-Cardiff form. Then that's it. It's okay listing numbers of names but let's give some thought as to the levels of L1 quality associated with those names. Then it's obvious we're threadbare, at best.
