how do you know he didn't want to leave?
just because he's gutted to be leaving doesn't mean he didn't want to leave.

Exactly that mate, and we'll never know.

I think there could be something in what @Gally alluded to. He still has another year to go with his drink-driving ban, and maybe he had a decision to make with his wife/family (travel/closer to home etc). We never know the full circumstances, and it could be entirely down to personal reasons. Or not.

There is more to this move than we know and ever will know. I'm sorry to see him go to Oldham, he was our best striker And even showed it in recent friendlies.
I reckon we have someone else coming in, maybe Tedic or someone who can actually play football and score goals.

I'm more intrigued, why there if Wrexham and all the glitz was an option?

It wasn’t real. Probably his agent trying to drum up a move/longer contract. I guess it worked.

Have you just mentioned Tedic and scoring goals in the same sentence?

Norwood got 11 last season. Tedic got 4.

For context, that's less than Bobby Thomas managed in L1 last season.

I have to say I don't know what to make of the Norwood thing. We certainly don't have all the facts. I reckon he likes playing and a 2/3 year deal at Oldham probably guarantees him a lot of game time.
I'd be amazed if Collins would have been happy with him leaving if he wasn't confident we have just as good or better already here or incoming.
Dallas and Watters are unknown. One is totally new, one never got a run of games. I guess we're going to find out in the next few weeks. They could be revelations or a bit so so. I don't think we have a forward at the club at the moment who could rattle and unsettle opposition defences like Norwood could though.

Norwood was a brilliant player for us and a perfect fit for the league that were in and for a town and club that prides itself on value for money Norwoods 11 goals and all round performances were worth every single penny.

Be interesting to see how Shaw and Dallas do next season and wether they are ready to make an instant impact.

I'm hoping they make an impact this season, Watters will be our main man, Cole will be a bit part player an Iseeka could be the dark horse,

I'm sure a top half League One footballer doesn't have to hop on Northern Rail to get to training every day. He'll have had drivers or a car share scenario with another player living close by.

Perhaps there's something in the contractual security but it doesn't smell like Norwood's choice to me. Why would you swap a League One promotion push where, judging by Collins' friendly selections, you'd be first choice to play non-league in front of crowds a third of the size?

I don't think it will have gone down well with Collins either as he clearly rated him. Hopefully there's no major disconnect there in terms of his awareness of who is actually going to be available for selection and who is going to be sold.

Someone else suggested he was getting a lift from Cole, but if Cole could no longer take him then he'd want a move to avoid 4x train trips on Northern every day...

Perhaps he could, but if someone above the coaching set up has told him he has no future at the club and Norwood strikes me as someone who just wants to play, he may have jumped at his first convenient option.
All assumptions of course, having never bumped into Devaney.

No, he was bound any gagged by Khaled’s henchmen and beaten with a baseball bat until his hair grew back.

Depends what they're paying him, compared to what he was on here.

The 2+1 year contract, means he only really has one extra year's employment secured, as the third year of that contract will be an option in the club's favour. And he's dropped out of the football league to get it. It's a very odd transfer.

True, but if I'm Norwood and I don't want to leave I dig my heels in, refuse the move and if necessary get the players union involved.
Worse case scenario is he moves on 4 months later in January

Norwood quoted by Oldham saying that one of the key aspects that swayed him to sign for the Latics was that they are a team who are looking to be challenging for promotion this season.

Could read into that maybe he thought we no longer look like doing that. He had already voiced concerns about the defensive frailties.
