Listening to his interview he suggests Oldham want to win the league whereas we are not so deternined. Very strange decision for us to let him go so close to the start of the season, reminds me of the Keiffer Moore scenario a few seasons ago. Connor Chaplin did make valid observations in hindsight.
Aye bet he is. I'm sure he's not taken a paycut & he's got an easier job closer to home. Dream. It's proper weird what the internet has done to people.
I've just watched it and he never says that "basically, he had to find another club". That's the problem ...you're creating fake news based on no fact.
"he didn't feel that is the case at Barnsley this year." If Norwood did say that he's being a bit naïve. I can't remember us ever starting a season when its been our ambition to win the League. 1920/21 possibly when we were a bit pissed off that Arsenal and the Football League had cheated us out of a promotion? That's the last time we had any serious, evidence based ambition.
Why not? We came 4th last year and we know how close we came to effectively making that 3rd and going up. Our target should be 1st or 2nd, there's no difference in either position for me, as long as its automatic. That should be our target. Norwood does not believe it is.
I’m not keen on us winning the National League to be fair. Don’t know why it’s preferable to win the National League rather than play in League One unless you’ve got a massive promotion bonus in your contract.
If we truly don’t have the ambition to win games or gain promotion, we may as well pack it in. Surely professional athletes, in any discipline would want that?? and the club are mugging the fan base off if that’s the case.
I don't think it is aimed at the bunch of players. It's the board and exec who yet again have been criticised and will no doubt remain silent until they announce a new overpriced catering option and think all is rosey again. This board had the easiest job in the world to ride that crest of feelgood following Wembley even though we failed to gain promotion, and in my eyes have again driven a wedge between the fans with poor comms regarding real issues like player sales and recruitment. Mark Robins walked because of the same. Chaplin said the same, Norwood doing the same.. There is a common theme running here when it comes to BFC.
That’s three different boards and execs though. The only common factor is that we don’t make enough money to be self sufficient without selling our best players.
Maybe Norwood has twigged that the Board are quite happy to keep the Club's head above water and not that bothered about about success. If we win a promotion, go on a cup run and have the odd trip to Wembley aling the way, that's good but not vital to them. If that's the limit of their ambition, then they're not "football people" and are way out of touch with the fans.
That can't be the case with 33 year old Norwood though. Norwood was on form, scoring freely in pre-season, was part of a very successful team the previous year and was under contract so the board could decide whether to keep or not. Any fee would be neglible in terms of our self-sufficency.
Obviously we don’t know the ins and outs of the deal, but if he was on 3k a week and we got 150k for him, that’s 300k back into the pot.
