He did well for me in that first 30 minutes when we were generally very poor, covered the defence well and kept them to long range efforts.

 

Yep, did as well as Kane and Styles. All 3 gave the ball away a bit in the first half but improved second half. Luca who?

 

Had a poor game for me where he watched it all go by him but scored a goal so fair play

 

I’ve been his biggest critic but he kept it simple and competent today. I thought he did alreight.

 

I actually thought he was pretty poor when vale were on top in the first half.

He’s the only midfield player I’ve ever seen who runs into space when the opposition have the ball not us, almost looks like he’s actively avoiding closing down and making a tackle at times.

Grew into the game though, much better second half, took his goal well though the marking was laughable - and of our six bookings I think his might be the only one I agreed with, poor challenge, but I was impressed he’d made it. Showed more endeavour, think it came with confidence. We need him if Connell is out for a while, which seems to be the case.

 

Really poor first half, changed player in the second.
