Plenty to choose from. Mine, the 5th Quality ball from Kane with the outside of his foot to Kitching and a great finish from our skipper.
I said the same to the bloke sat near me, that if Barcelona had scored our fifth goal that it would have been showed over and over
Cole had to get MoM but Kane and Styles were class. Sheppard, Chapman, Shaw and Dallas performed and Lopata had a great debut. All goals were well taken but I'd go Kitchings for the cross and finish.
All 6 wer well taken, Coles hatrick was sensational, but Kitchings was sheer class, C,O,Y,R, oh and before the dickheads start the 2nd was an own goal
Well there were some big performances all over the pitch today but my personal choice for mom was Callum Styles. I thought he was outstanding today and if he had been in the squad last season we would have smashed automatic promotion. I so do hope we can keep for this season. Yes I know it’s unlikely and that we have other excellent midfielders but he could make the difference between autos or the playoffs again for us. Edit, Meant this to be on the match thread
I've never seen us provide so many accurate crosses from either side, they were superb. Wing backs knew what they were doing. Defence with Lopata,in middle, were so switched on, safe and secure and if anything did get through our new Keeper was perfect. I'm looking forward to a good season.
Any goal Kitching ever scores which is from open play is automatically the goal of the season. I just love that we have a centre half who occasionally thinks he's Alan Shearer
Kitch was in Eaden's Bar last night. Had to shake his hand after that finish. Amazing through ball from Kane, who would have been MOTM for me, if Cole hadn't netted a hat trick. Amazing ball from O'Keefe for the first, as well, which swung the game.
I like Cole's third. And not even for the thoroughly heart-warming piece of selfless play by Cadden who guided the ball home allowing Cole his hattrick. It's not as spectacular as some of the others, but there's a few things to really like. Firstly, the way Cole closed down the opposition attacker on the edge of his own box and blocked the shot. Secondly, the speed and determination by which his teammates broke forward to give Cole options. And finally, the finish. Their Keeper's positioning was text-book: He stood tall, made himself look big and intimidating and narrowed the angles. I don't know the stats, but my experience of watching football is that more often than not the keeper comes out on top when he gets that part right and the striker has a lot of time. Cole purposefully placed it between his legs. You've got to be calm, confident and very accurate to do that. But six of the seven goals were fantastic. Kane's passing and the crossing from all wing-backs was sublime. And you don't get many centre halves even taking up Kitching's position and I don't remember any we've ever had who could finish like that. And it's not the first time he's been in those positions and scored goals when we have no right to expect anything like that from him at all.
Doesn't seem fair to pick just one really, they were all good in their own ways! Looks like someone might have4 been working on Coles confidence and in getting an early strike away, Kitch's was worthy of any striker and I know he was pretty much unmarked that leap and header by Dallas looked well good!
