    Just to be picky for a moment ... why Lionesses ?

    We don't call people actresses any more, nor manageress, hostess etc etc.

    If we were 3 horses we would call the men Stallions and the ladies the fillies - you wouldnt call them Stallions as well
    Same with lions - the male is called a lion the female is called a lioness - it wouldnt make sense to call the our girls the Lions

    We don’t want Lions struggling with gender identity issues. The girls do all the work. The lads just lounge around. Eating, shagging & the occasional scrap.
    Nothing would ever get done.. :)

    Mares. A fillie is a young female, mainly a racing term.. Young male is a colt.. (yawn, I know..) :)

    The under 21s are called the Young Lions. It would be a far stretch to call the first team ‘Lions’.. :D

    Is Colt a unisex sex term or are they just colts male and young fillies? Stallions means they've sewed their oats. Mares means they've given birth and Geldings means they've had their tackle lopped off.

    Colt male, fillie female. Under 4 years in racing terms. Stallions are blokes, mares lasses. Geldings, aye no knackers. Another racing term. A lot of punters don’t actually know much about horses, except racing form.. :)
