I’d rather spend the day with Bumble and only briefly talk about cricket. One of the funniest men in sport
Do you think fame is starting to get to the Lionesses Helen? At the last tournament people were saying what a breath of fresh air their no nonsense professionalism was, a view that I concurred with. At this tournament, we've had Lucy Bronze kicking a chair and just missing the head of a teammate, and then refusing to shake the hand of the referee in an act of petulance. We've also seen Lauren James stamping on someone, which she has now apologised for, but it was unnecessary and disrespectful. Football is obviously a game of passion, but I worry that the new-found fame and heightened media coverage (as we have seen with the men's England side in that past) is getting to them - what do you think?
Spot on. They'll eventually go the same way as the men and the hype will be no more than a millstone round their necks.
Listen to all of them Steve. Just use the bits you think can help you. You'd be pretty good to dismiss advice from Atherton, Hussain and Butcher. They're all very knowledgeable. KP and Botham great cricketers but two of the worst pundits there has ever been in my opinion.
That England team of the early to late nineties was one of the worst for temperament I've witnessed. No heart and fight. Fleeting glimpses like Atherton's knock in South Africa but there weren't enough over the course of a series. Not one of those players played in an Ashes winning series.
Was on a stag do in West end and he was on a table next to us with a group of lads. Had a fantastic night out with them and he was really good company.
Michael Atherton very underrated cricketer tarnished by a poor England team that he tried to often single handed carry. At one point in the 90’s he was out scoring everyone else in world cricket.
