I'm perfectly willing to have a discussion. And yes, living here is preferable from where they've escaped from ( that's why they're here!) but surely that's the bare minimum , we csn do better? At the end of the day we're all human beings, if the place I live in becomes unsafe I'd want someone to take me in, wouldn't you?
You got answered with facts. You don't like them, cos they don't fit the racist narrative. You also pointed out that.... "if I was fleeing a war with my family I don't think I'd drag my kids 2 continents to get to England" So are these males bringing their kids or what? As you keep mentioning 2 continents and obviously have a problem with the Syrians here, where should they go, their neighbour Iraq, or keep going through Iran, Afghanistan? Or the other way to Israel, maybe South to Saudi? So unless they head North to Turkey, is that classed as Europe now? They're in the Euros. Turkey took 4million Syrians, we took just over 4000. 2 continents? Facts eh?
Asylum accommodation is single sex, unless it's for families. As explained there are more male asylum seekers - therefore more male only hotels. If you happened to live near a female site (none in Barnsley afaik) you'd see more women. Obvs. There is accommodation for asylum seeking families in Wakefield.
I met a Ukrainian lad in Wentworth a few weeks back, Yurgo. About 30. Couriering for Prime, struggling to find an address. I showed him where he was going & got chatting. In Ukraine he was a human rights lawyer, here to represent & interpret for other migrant families. He doesn’t get paid for that, so drives to pay for his B&B in Chesterfield. Has a young wife & child, they’re in Krakow with an an old university pal. He hasn’t seen them for over a year. His brother died fighting the Russians & he wants to go back & do his bit. I said, it sounds like you’re doing a good job here? But he still wants to kill Russians. Edit: This kid can’t wait to get back home & rebuild his country & that’s true of the majority..
You've proved yourself incapable of having a reasoned discussion. As I said, I've no problem with people asking questions, I have a problem with people completely ignoring the explanations and reason offered in response.
Do you not accept the answers given then? I know for a fact that a family escaping from Kosovo for eg. twenty years ago or so had to leave the youngest behind with grandma because they just couldn't cope with the arduous journey. It wasn't a decision they made lightly.
I don’t think it’s racism. Maybe some are, but it’s not blatantly displayed. Some fall for the racist narrative peddled by the Sun etc & a desperate government.
And maybe you reach safety here but it never goes away. What they’ve been through never ever goes away. My father didn’t talk about his past or what happened to him. As a kid the only thing he did tell me was “I come from a place that doesn’t exist where everybody is dead.” Much later we found out. Believe me, all your nightmares rolled into one wouldn’t even come close. How he ever managed to hold it together and be the best father I can never work out. As for the women and children, they’d all been killed before he even set out.
The point is there aren’t any safe and legal routes. This is all a giant sham. They are doing this culture war program to try to win the votes of the dense, and it seems it’s winning in some cases, based on this thread alone.
I think you give too many the benefit of the doubt. Surely if you fall for that racist narrative peddled by the Sun etc, then if you are agreeing with them, you are a racist. You may be too thick to realise it, but you are.
I’m a bit thick, true. But I don’t agree with them, just because I say it’s never too late to learn..?
No worries there Mr JLWBigLil. It’s all a bit sad really. Sat on our island here we have no idea at all about what folk have been through. And are going through. If there is such a thing as hell then my father experienced it.
Meanwhile the respectable (vaguely) faces of the knuckledraggers, make £4000 a day off the government by letting the barge dock in their private port. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/family-firm-profiteering-misery-providing-30584405
Suppose that's the social media mentality though, throw names and insults at someone via a keyboard and when the other person says something back they are the bad ones.
The answers given that they travel 2 continents because they speak English, and they have left the wife and kids god knows where and they will meet up later? In some cases it probably is true there's a backlog of about 80k asylum cases so you have 80k different stories and cases. Some will flea war some have just come for a better life. But I ruffled a few feathers by asking a few questions that could be classed as anti immigration, I said alot of it on here is political points scoring that upset a few. Then I get name called and the pack mentality kicks in.Anyway last from me happy to discuss out just not with the audience and pack mentality.
How much social housing could be built for that for both current citizens and refugees coming here by a safe and legal route.
