    Don't know if anyone saw the bit on TV about him suffering with MND. Very sad to watch,I remember him in is prime at Huddersfield
    Ipswich and Bristol. What a goal scorer he was with a great record, I always hoped we would have signed him some how. God bless him.

    Marcus was an amazing striker. I remember the 99/00 season when we played Ipswich in the league.
    We lost 0-2 at Oakwell, and in the week leading up to the match, Bassett was quoted as saying Stewart wasn't worth the money Ipswich had paid (£2.5 million+).
    He scored both goals, and I remember the Ipswich fans given it to Bassett with both barrels.

    He made his debut for Ipswich against us in February 2000. They won, he scored. He famoulsy scored in the play-off final against us too, and had scored against us when playing for Huddersfield earlier in the season.

    Cracking player. Very sad to hear.

    An old mate has just been diagnosed. Same age as me. Played local leagues till he was 52. Great lad, Don’t know what the immediate future holds.

    Even though I don't know the lad it still hurts to know someone is suffering. Wishing him all the best.

    Bloody awful news and an incredibly awful disease, probably the worst of all. Sincere best wishes Marcus fight like hell and hopefully they’ll find a cure much sooner than later.

    I've just read an interesting article about lifestyle and environment having a possible baring on developing the illness. I was particularly interested to read that fractures had been linked. Could a broken bone cause a chemical/hormonal reaction that starts off the illness?

    I hope they do find what causes it. It will drastically help them finding a cure.

    ***** disease - possibly the worst.

    My younger brother passed from MND. 18 months from diagnosis to drowning on his own saliva (he had told his wife to get some sleep!). 49 fecking years old. Wouldn't wish it on anybody.

    Stay strong all who have, or are caring for someone with, this horrible horrible disease.

    Deepest sympathies - it is a vile disease - between them my friend and her partner have 6 children - 5 still at home - the toll it is taking on the whole family is immense an unremitting.

    Awful to hear mate, and I am truly sorry to hear your tragic story.
    I lost my Dad to MND at 55. He was misdiagnosed as having had a mild stroke when he lost the ability to speak and swallow, and was even forced to go back to work on light duties despite deteriorating so rapidly he could barely walk.
    I assume your experience makes, such as, the Rob Burrow documentary even harder to watch.
    Aside from the ice bucket challenge, a few years ago, he and Kevin Sinfield are doing their utmost to raise awareness and funds for research into a cure. God bless them.

    And how am I supposed to know that ?.
    I just think its an appalling thing to post on here, on what is an upsetting subject that affects a number of people. :(
