yes. I can’t say the events of the summer have made me change my mind about the abilities of those running the club. It’s not an omnishambles or a clusterfuck and they want the best but we are a long way from performing well off the pitch. All imo of course.

I'm sorry that you've been reduced to having to bum domestic pets for leftover Cheetos.

And that brings about the argument, how much input and say so, should they be allowed to have ?.
Its obviously why they insist on coaches these days rather than the old fashioned 'managers'.

Did we think we were in with a chance of winning this cup? It’s a dead rubber every year and most teams field a fringe 11. Pretty sure Collins picked the team for this one.

Can’t see why anybody is getting worked up over this at all.
Collins signalled his intentions days ago so nobody who turned up should have been surprised either.
Just an extension of our delayed pre season to give the manager a bit more insight.
The league is what we should be judged on, plus a pop at the Fa cup.

No but as some have already explained, its nice to be able to have a good cup run sometimes.
And whether most teams do this is irrelevant, it doesn't mean we have to do the same does it.
And I don't see why it has to be one or the other, doesn't a good cup run add to the confidence and help the league form. Not always, but it can and has happened before.

I think the manager made it clear that tonight was about seeing what youngsters can do. If they’d pulled it off and won on pens, fair play to them, but I’d have expected a similar side in round 2.

Yeah there is that, and its not for a few rounds is it, till the big teams get involved. Although there's still the chance of a local derby in the draw at this stage.
I'm guessing he/Collins will do the same in the Papa trophy thing as well.

If the Coach/Club makes it clear to the fans they don’t care about being competitive in any of the three cup competitions then (although I think they are wrong) then that’s fair enough. I won’t trouble myself to attend or support the players. Not giving a toss works both ways. And although that would be an honest and open approach from the leadership, it Just seems wrong for a professional football club to take that line

Fully paid up member of the Tinpot Brigade - but I don't really give a monkeys about last night. The same happened against Lincoln last season.

    Roll on Saturday.

Nah mate. Last season we were embarrassed by Lincoln. This season we took the game to penalties before narrowly missing out.

The Lincoln shambles was in the Papa John's. Last season we lost to Leeds in the 2nd or 3rd round of the League Cup.

Collins did make it clear beforehand that he was going to play a very young side. It’s a chance for them to get competitive game time and learn and some of that will involve them making mistakes. How else are they supposed to develop as players if they’re on the fringes of the first team and he needs to see them play? He can’t always wait until we’re winning 5 or 6 nil before bringing them on in League One.
No one likes seeing us lose and we didn’t do it on purpose but it has no negative impact on the League season other than a loss of income which must be borderline unless we drew a big club.

Normally it's a huge bugbear for me, this not trying in Cup games. We've done it for years, lost countless games we could have won, and to little purpose. We'll undoubtedly do the same in the EFL Cup, a trophy we could very realistically win. It drives me mad. The whole purpose of sport is to try to win, especially competitions that we CAN win, otherwise what's the point?
Last night I'll give a pass to however. A new coach still trying to assess players, a lot of first teamers already injured and suspended.
I'll be back to being annoyed, however, if we're still doing it later in the season.

We're only one of a number of clubs that lost last night to "lesser" opposition. Most of those results were by bigger margins than ours.
