I know they lost to Luton but do they really need to try and copy them by signing our players?! In all seriousness though, with the disruption we’ve had in our back line this summer and the length of his contract, I’d be flat out refusing. If we don’t go up this season then maybe that would be the time let him leave. Still have 3 years left on his deal at that point so should still command a good fee. I’d be incredibly disappointed if Liam isn’t our captain come September.
He's on a long contract and is an integral part of our team. Unless it's a minimum of £5m up front + adds on then we should not be entertaining the idea.
Yeah.. The only reason this news is being made public is to soften us up for the inevitable. Or why say owt. I'd say the biggest reason is that he'll want to go. We are a selling club, so we'll sell. Replacement already here and more money in the bank.. whoopee.!!
The club couldn't be in a stronger position than it is right now. We've already brought in enough money to cover this season's losses and Kitching is 22, has 4 years on his contract with seemingly no release clause. And importantly, left footed centre backs who can also play left back are like gold dust in the current market. Based on all this, i think we should be putting value of £8m on him and play hard ball. It's not to say he's worth £8m but many many clubs pay over the odds for players they really want. The last time Barnsley held a strong position we got £5m for Mawson and that was in 2017 and after only 5 Championship games!
I would agree except we don’t seem to be too great at reinvesting and usually takes time to find a replacement.
Nearer 6 million I believe is the asking price.Personally I'd be loathe to sell him,In my view he's our best defender but players do have some power on these matters.
We are soft as ****. An undisclosed tiny piece of **** that barely covers any incoming raw talent. The other clubs sell for £20 million…
For Most of last season I would’ve agreed with you, but his stock has risen so much towards the back-end of last season, and more so this season given the lack of experience around him. I’d be looking for at least £4m
My fear is that the club already have their replacement in Jack Sheperd. That's why he's being fast tracked into the first team squad.
