Anybody had it? And can advise upon a road to recovery?

Apparently 10% of you will get it , sooner or later

On Youtube there are so many conflicting "remedies" that it tends to make you doubt the medical community.

Thanks in advance from man with spikey ball beneath foot, rolling randomly

Any advice that involves alcohol abstinence will be ignored

Do f.ck all exercise, put your feet up, get fat.

    Worked for me.

Alternatively, I paid a physio to put me through agony massaging it and used a frozen bottle of water every night to roll it.

    That's what I already do

    But I still got it.

I shall freeze a bottle of water

    Did it go away?

I've read about people crawling around their house for years, suffering from this.

I wouldn't bother my GP with this tbh. I think it might be one of those things that can be solved by common sense.

I have none, hence this thread.

It's mainly about stretching the tendon under your foot as it tightening is what causes the pain.
Don't need to spend on expensive physio or treatments. I had it bad and was advised to wear footwear with support (ie: not flip flops etc) and to use a foam roller or a tennis ball. Roll it from the heel to your toes to stretch the tendon
I did for 10 mins twice a day and recovered within 2 months and not had it again.

Insoles are a good aid for any footwear that have a thin sole (like smart shoes etc) so they give same support that running trainers might give you.

Had it twice. The first time I just left it to heal on its own. It took months. The second time a work mate recommended I check out YouTube for exercises to aid recovery. They really helped and I recovered much quicker. Exercises which stretched the calf muscle & achilles seemed to help - especially first thing in the morning and before going to bed. Also rolling a golf ball or bottle under the foot seemed to make a difference. Like Dyson said, the exercises can be bloody painful but they helped me. Good luck.

Gel heel supports. Think I got some at Boots. Worked a treat.

I had plantar for over a year so it might not take you that long! I just did it while sat at work and then on a night watching TV so wasn't too stressful!

As also said, flat shoes are out. Wear running style trainers all the time. I've got high arches so have some rigid insoles made up for me that I have to wear with any shoes.

Another useful exercise is to stand on bottom step of your stairs so your heels hang over the edge.
Then stretch your calf and foot tendons by going on to your toes

I have ordered an eyepatch and a stuffed shoulder affixing parrot for my upcoming birthday so I can hop round the field with the dog looking for treasure.

Youtube provides conflicting remedies so I'm sticking to calf and under foot massaging for now. Net result so far = pain and a hobble.

I got some of those curved insoles to support the arches.
