Has posted a video on Insta of him training somewhere else - doesn’t look like another club, more of a private thing.
Given he’s not been in the last few squads it seems clear that he’s off. It’d be really interesting to know what has actually happened here.
Is it just a case of his wages are way too high and we need to force him out?

wagers 2 high be my guess on his self,if he ain't playing, he aint gonna get any better, let him make an effort play your nuts off, when we interview our new players we need to tell them you can be gazza but if your head gets turned by bigger clubs youd brtter try even harder and you will end up getting your move,it cuts move ways

Must not be playing him because it’ll involve us having to pay more money, or triggering an instalment in his transfer fee.

Monumental b**** up of a transfer.

To be honest, a lot of players do private training too. Mads Andersen and Cauley Woodrow used to post a lot on Instagram of them at private facilities.

Being forced out against his wishes because we can't afford the contract we gave him. Treating him like an outcast so he feels more pressured to bugger off.

"Against his wishes" in the sense that he'd like to stay here and get paid for doing absolutely nowt rather than he really wants to knuckle down and play for us.

Absolute waster, can't wait until he's gone.

But he's doing nowt because we want him gone because of his wages. If he was on half as much cash, I reckon the situation would be different.

Surely we want rid of him because he was doing nothing?
If when he signed he ripped the place up either in terms of quality or effort we wouldn’t be trying to ‘force’ him out.

Correlation doesn't imply causation. Just because he's both on big wages and not playing doesn't mean he's not playing because of his big wages. How many managers is it now that haven't thought he was good enough?

To be honest I'm not sure he cares whether he's playing or not. I get the impression he's Winston Bogarding us.

Nobody will ever beat him. Didn't he live in Rotterdam and fly to and from Heathrow for training with the youth team at Chelsea for a number of years rather than leave. Sure he took an early morning flight to England for training and got home to Holland in time for tea. Quite the air miles 4-5 days a week.

I'm not sure why folk don't understand this. We want him gone because his wages are too high (which isn't his fault). It's not because he can't be arsed, isn't good enough, or is unwilling to play our system etc. In football it's common to exclude those players from matchday squads, make them train with the kids, and barely speak to them. Under the Cosh call it the 'bomb squad'. It's a stand off to avoid having to buy him out of his full contract. We'll be asking him to take a percentage of what he's owed to leave - he'll be demanding the full amount.

Admittedly if he was THAT good we'd be playing him and increasing his value, but clearly he isn't THAT good. Thanks Conway.

Read this thread and can't help but feel there is a lot of assumptions based upon very little evidence- for both sides. Yes he may be lazy etc but equally maybe the board want him off the books and have stopped managers from playing him.

I have no idea what the truth is, and I feel that we shouldn't jump to conclusions.

But he's never really played under several managers. It's not as if we've suddenly bombed him out. Add in to that the stories of him pretending not to understand English to avoid training properly and I'm struggling to see him as an innocent victim of his own wages here.

These new managers didn't even play him in friendlies which suggests they may have been told not to play him. I find that most "stories" are of the fairy variety or at best exaggerated. We'll not know the truth until either the club or the player break their silence on the matter.

Exactly - if he was setting the world alight we'd be playing him and selling him for a fee. However, as he's only marginally better than what we've got...but supposedly was our highest earner (and still is), you can understand why the managers have been told to not play him. The club need him gone and they need the manager's support in encouraging him to leave for the settlement we're offering.

He wouldn't be the first player who doesn't train well - I'd rather a player was able to do it when it matters than be the best player in training...as long as it's not at the expense of the other players who are also training. Club want him out so it's not hard to see why he's not being included.

The only thing we haven't tried with him is giving him a consistent run of games.

I still don't get why we don't play him. If he refuses surely that could bring about a termination of his contract? We're paying the full amount anyway. You never know some other clueless owner or CEO might see something in him if he plays and we let him go on a free. If we're never going to play him, then pay him off. We'd save money for stuff like insuring him, food, whatever else perks they get. Else were just chucking good money after bad and encouraging other players to act that way.
