We played some great football that first half…….it could’ve been 3-0 3-3 0-3 both teams missed good chances and had good saves made too……. Second half we set off well again and took a lead from an error, that seemed to galvanise Peterborough somehow…….player errors by Kitching, Roberts and I believe Cadden cost us the 3 goals…….slightly concerning that 2 games on the spin we’ve fallen apart In the second half. We have a few players in the team who appear they want away but will only be sold if the right valuation is met, this needs addressing asap for as the manager needs to know what he’s got to build with!! Plus points tonight, Brian Potter played particularly well and fully deserved the motm, John Russell played well for 60 minutes then run out of steam…… MW needs to use his size more but also needs his match fitness to improve which will come with game time unfortunately. Peterborough were superb tonight and will be up there if they continue in that vein. We go again Saturday……
I thought Peterborough played better against us last season tbh.I was right predicting they'd score 3 , they could have had more but so could we.
They did the season before that as well. They've turned up the last 3 times and decided to play really well and win. We've done similar at theirs tbf. It's a weird game.
Yeah went in at half time saying no way this will finish like this. We are decent at attacking but crap defensively. Roberts is a beast in the nets. My man of the match. But Cotter was exciting with the ball so can see why he got it. We need to be stronger in midfield on Saturday, otherwise it’s going to be another tough game. Will probably see some goals though I guess.
Think Collins should have seen what was happening sooner and maybe took Watters off earlier and brought an extra midfielder on cos it was clear they were playing through us with ease plus it would have also have helped if we had someone up front who could hold the ball up.
Which Russell was that?!? Were we at the same game? His brief seems to be 'find space', regardless of where the play is. Limply waving a leg in the general direction of the ball doesn't really do it for me. A couple of neat, simple touches in the first half, but that was it. Bottled a few challenges to compound a genuinely abject performance. I soooo want to like this lad, but he's got to give us a bit more.
Two decent teams produced a fine even game of football for the first three quarters of the match. Then we fell off it when they were forced, by our lucky goal, to come more out of their shell. That was when the midfield needed a shake up, never mind the non-existent attackers. Posh showed the bit of class on the night that we couldn't. We did a miniature Port Vale implosion. I'm even boring myself by saying that we will get nowhere in this league when our forwards continue to provide the same kind of threat as they did tonight. They are not good enough.
A very good game of football, an advert for league 1. I think Posh will be up there come the end of the season but hope we will as well. As others have said Russell had a very good game in defensive mid, Cotter excellent going forward, Christ I’ve missed watching a winger. Oxford Saturday and hopefully 3 points.
Probably cos the manager rates him, we’re players short and lastly the lad needs games…….you can’t expect a lad who’s barely played any minutes for us prior to this season come straight in and be bossing things……we live in a world where no one is patient anymore and expect perfection instantly
It's all opinions but I think he's got the potential to be a quality player for us, we just need to get our tactics right so that things link together more.
