No-one’s bothered about Rugby Union and add to that, no-one gives a **** about Welsh Rugby.

Worst sport ever, even topping F1…..

Surprising decision which makes a mockery of he Bunker System. Isn't the whole purpose of it to provide officials more time to review a yellow card to determine if it should be red? By reversing the decision they're effectively saying that the time available wasn't sufficient. Dead in the water already. And I doubt it'd have been reversed had it been one of the 'lesser' nations.

I’m a bit confused as to your point. They haven’t overturned his red card themselves have they?

It wasn’t a great tackle but there have been much worse and there was no intentional foul play. And the lad did change direction late when he got hit by Jamie George before Farrell.

Furthermore, what has English rugby got to do with it? It was an IRU panel that overturned the red card, a panel of all Australian officials.

I felt it was a red watching jt, I still do now. I expected a three to four game ban. They’ve decided different, not all people agree, including people within English rugby - though interestingly Shaun Edwards backed the call to reduce to yellow.

We played with twelve men for quite a while and turned the game around and won with 14 - are you not more upset about your side capitulating in the last ten minutes than a disciplinary panel decision that neither the rfu or the wru had any part in?

Bit aggressive, someone pissed on your cornflakes this morning?

And speak for yourself. Plenty of people like rugby union.

To be controversial, as someone born and bred in South Yorkshire, who even went to school with several lads who went pro, including one who played for Hull FC, Cas, Wakefield in super league - I’ve never really liked rugby league. Union is a much better sport in my eyes.

    There, I said it.

England are poor, nowhere near ready for the WC. Only one country will fare worse IMHO, and that is the turmoil-ridden Welsh.

No expert, but I can't see any intent to warrant a red.

Not a massive Rugby fan but played union at school and hated it. Don't mind watching Rugby (both codes) if I'm in mood. Wouldn't know who plays for who though.

    Foul play review ‘bunker’ explained
    Which decisions are being reviewed?

Any decision involving head contact, unless it is completely clear within two replays, will be called as a yellow card by the on-field referee, who crosses his arms to indicate he is putting it on review. The player goes to the sin bin for 10 minutes, the match continues, and the Foul Play Review Officer (FPRO) has eight minutes to come back to the Television Match Official (TMO) with a decision.

TV viewers can see the process under way as the review officer uses an array of screens and Hawkeye technology to cue up time-locked replays from a range of camera angles, side by side if necessary.

There are three options: keep it as a yellow card – either due to mitigating factors or because there is not a high level of danger – or upgrade it to a red card and permanent exclusion because there is a high level of danger and no mitigation. The decision is communicated to the referee who tells the team captain. At Twickenham last Saturday, the Farrell verdict “Four Play Review Outcome – Red Card” was flashed up on the big screens.

You’re fishing here aren’t you? Not that I could give a sh it about rugby of any denomination but … when the IRU committee ( not England) overturned the red they said that there was another England player involved who’d changed the position of the person being tackled last minute with no time for Farrell to change his position.

    Lovely.

How does any of that make your OP make sense though?

I may be wrong on this but.... I don't think intent comes into it. I think the rules state that the tackler has responsibility to ensure that the player being tackled isn't endangered by the challenge. Shoulder to head is deemed to be dangerous and it's therefore the tacklers responsibility to ensure they tackle at an appropriate height. In this instance Farrell doesn't appear to have done that.

By challenging and ultimately undermining the Bunker Review System the player has compromised player safety.
