Just watched the forum from last night and the recruitment process was once again discussed. It was once again put to the board that James Cryne gives the head coach a list of players to choose from. No one contradicted this. It was also revealed that James Cryne’s data plays a huge role in the recruitment of our head coach’s.

Recruitment is king and it seems to me that if James Cryne plays a major role in the recruitment of both players and coaches he is one of the most influential persons at the club. And yet while Khaled and JAQ appear at these forums and JAQ gets stick on social media we hear nothing from him. I get that he is a private person but seen as Khaled gets a lot of stick for the appointment of coaches and the signing of certain players I think the person mainly responsible should front up from time to time

What would you want him to say? Our recruitment when using his approach since using it has been really good. I’d also say he doesn’t seem high up in the decision making process but more just gives a list of promising players and then we further scout them( watch them in person). People are angry atm because we’re on a downward trend after selling mads but I suspect James’s analytics discovers him in the first place.

Which players/coaches does he need to front up about? Our recruitment has been very successful on the whole.

If James provides a list of players for the head coach to choose from then surely the coach is the one with ultimate responsibility.

I didn't see James last night but Jean was definitely there, sitting in the background. Which is where I suspect the Crynes prefer to be, and you can't blame them for that.

I would doubt James is sat there at a laptop tapping away more heading it up.
Given the recruitment is confirmed as Coach says want a type player and then has final say, I’d argue the Coach is more culpable than the person who gives a list of potentials who fit a criteria.

Not sure how much more the club can do at a forum other than put up The Chairman, CEO & Head Coach. Not all key people are comfortable front of house.

Maybe why seem to get a glut of players in the same position every now and again.. Didn't Patrick say that James didn't like football but liked maths.. so if 3 right backs have the best stats, then we sign 3 right backs..

Our identifying of players hasn't really been the problem over the last 6 years or so. It's the selling off players in clusters then having to wait to rebuild a team in the meantime.

Quality of recruitment has been first class in recent years.
No idea why James C. should be required to ‘front up’
If anything he should possibly get more praise than he does ?

Well we saw what happened when Conway decided to do away with the spreadsheet. Two Belgian players spring to mind

I take it back. The Cryne’s are blameless and if James was in full control of the club we’d be in the premier league by now. Kaheld out

Whether we need 'em or not. Like when we signed all them 'no 10's'

Our recruitment policy has been successful!!! FFS! We’re in the third Division heading southwards. Thank God it’s not been a ‘failure’.

Obbi Oulare played his first full 90 minutes today since 12th September 2020 and even stretched to providing an assist. Given his previous recovery rate his next full game will be in late July 2026.

I'll stand corrected. But I thought I'd read once someone was employed to do James Crynes role on a permanent basis. But tbh can't find him on the who's who.
