I'd say struggle to mid-table at this point but a:.. the transfer window is still open, so let's see what the next two weeks bring... b:.. coach, new players got to be given time to bed in..
The overreaction by people who are usually quite level headed is the best indication of what that constant drip of negative propaganda has done. There are people who use this forum who have an agenda: to turn Barnsley fans against the current ownership. It's working and new recruits are now joining in.
That thought did cross my mind yesterday. Judging by yesterday’s performance, the club has some work to do to break the sequence.
I just think now is the time to make noise about this while there's still an opportunity for them to negate some of the damage they've allowed to happen during this disastrous summer. This is the time to bang the drum because if they don't act decisively in the next 11 days we could easily have another 21/22 here. All the same blueprint has been followed so far.
I think lower mid table this year but we do seem to have gotten into the habit of a successful season followed by an absolute shitshow of one. This summer definitely reminds me of ‘the best transfer window ever’ one. Where that will leave us next season with presumably all saleable assets gone Is difficult to say. sad to see comments on this suggesting that because someone sees things differently to you then they must have been impacted by ‘negativity’. People are negative because we have a poorly run club that seems to be perpetually snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. it’s ok to disagree. We seem to have lost sight of that as nation. We do seem to be in a period of managed decline from the stadium to results on the pitch. That can, of course, change.
For gods sake… We won’t be relegated. Unless we get a huge points deduction in the ongoing disciplinary matter. The club might be expecting a massive fine though, maybe why they haven’t spent much, if anything.
I wouldn't say we've followed exactly the same blueprint as that season. We didn't have a permanent CEO in place until September/October. We allegedly went outside the regular recruitment strategy to sign two expensive strikers who didn't get international clearance for 2-3 months. The club was completely neglected that summer, to the point where we were making signings because we simply had to. Whilst there's reservations around the level we've signed the players we have from, for the most part there's been a plan, or at least they've largely been in positions we've needed them. They're going to need time to gel, time for the coach to get his ideas across. Whether it was the intention or not, it's turned into another transition season. This is why the most important thing for me is to tie down our better players to a longer deal. So we can have some sort of continuity going forward. I do agree though, it's not feasible for us to have so much upheaval every summer and expect to win promotion.
Being as how Reading have had points deducted 3 seasons in a row, for dodgy finances and not paying staff and their current deduction was only 1 point despite taking naff all notice of their punishments for 3 years.........you'd like to think the efl don't have a leg to stand on for throwing the book at us.
Too early to say where we'll finish. I thought top 2 was a big ask when the season started, playoffs a strong possibility again. I'm not convinced at the moment, but there is time to address our defensive frailties
Disagree. There are people who use this forum who do have an agenda - like me. My agenda is that I want BFC to constantly improve on and off field. I want us to win football games. I want fans to be able to see how the club is moving forwards and looking to take that next step. But I don't see that at the minute - and it seems like plenty of people are starting to look at it that way too.
Maybe that's because the penny has finally started to drop. People have started to realise that the plan as it is currently being implemented is fatally flawed, that the board don't have a clue how to run a successful professional football club, that the CEO is so out of his depth that he can't even make sure small easily achievable tasks like fixing a handrail in a disabled toilet are completed in good time never mind the big stuff. That the constant churn of players and coaches is inconsistent with achieving stability and consistant on field success. I'd like nothing more than to see Barnsley FC have success but not the feast or famine type we currently have I want long term sustained success.
To be fair…it get’s mentioned every time we are struggling and forgot about whenever we are doing well.
People are entitled to their opinions, whether they over-react or under-react. Personally, I dont think criticism of the board's strategy is an over-reaction at all. Over a sustained period of time the quality on the pitch is being weakened by an over-reliance on selling/releasing too many decent players and replacing then with cheaper, hopeful punts. The strategy over time is not working, hence where once we had Moore, Morris up front, many now are deflated because Norwood has gone. Norwood was no Moore or Morris but that example exemplifies what I mean. If more people are coming to that conclusion then I don't think they're not level-headed - its just their view as it is mine.
Sorry mate, was just tongue in cheek! Edir - although I am feeling my pre-season prediction of 9th is looking a tad optimistic
