Then the transfer window shuts. Before going off shouting at everybody and there fatha is it more appropriate to wait and see what develops?
The club have already indicated that more experiance is needed and I'm sure they're looking at the options to bring in.Of course if Duff had stayed we wouldn't be in this position because he would have known what his requirements were.Collins has come in and rightly wanted to assess his squad. He now knows our strengths and weaknesses.
Even in the world of "I want it now" 2 weeks isn't a long time to wait.If after 2 weeks you haven't got your wishes then by all means get the scaffold out and the executioner ready.

Think we'll make use of the loan window as well - some of our better ones were the loan players last year

The loan window doesn’t exist. We can only sign loans during the same window. They got rid of the loan window years ago when they got rid of ‘emergency’ loans.

You can only take players on loan within the normal windows and for full or half seasons, no 28 day loans etc.

Only exception is they will let you loan a keeper in an emergency if you have two or more out injured or banned.

Thought it was the recruitment team who knew what the targets are/were, that way when a head coach departs nothing should change and we have stability and continuity to carry on doing our business regardless of Collins, isn't that the whole point in why we are set up this way or I'm I missing summat?
If that's the case we'd have been all over the free agents especially if the board realise we need experience, because that was the place and time to attract a quality centre half, no fees involved and could have offered wages within reason.

Problem is we have wasted all our promise of last season and where we finished to attract players now.

But I guess I will try and put some faith in the board - but I won’t hold my breath too much as I just think it will be another set of underwhelming additions.

We already are this year too, Liam Roberts is the best of the signings so far, i don’t think many would argue against that.

Whether it is loans or permanent signings, it is clear we need to strengthen

No thats not true. The coach tells the recruitment team what he wants and they then go to work identifying whats available. Most of the summer signings will have been identified last season with imput from the Academy coaches to whom they can develop for the first team. Not all will make it but its an ongoing process. The only reason most of our summer signings have been involved is because of injuries.

Any idea if that's their sole job at the club or if they work full time doing something else?

I genuinely don't think they exist as in a team
I thought we looked at all the data to identify potential targets, then gave the coach a choice of A,B,C etc, so effectively what your saying then is our head coach still brings in the players and not the club?

If the coach wants a 6 ft 5in left footed centre half he tells the recruitment team and they then work through the options and possibilites.
If the coach as a specific player in mind he will also put that to the powers that be to see if they can sort a deal out.

I believe James Cryne graduated with Ist class honours in Mathematics from Imperial, London, one of the country's leading academic institutions, and that he is a specialist in algorithms. Whether his mathematical brilliance is enough on its own to make him suitable as the person who identifies good players is a matter for debate, but it can hardly be seen as a disadvantage.
