Were 4 games into the season FFS, give him a bit of time. He may turn out to be ****, then again he may actually get us going in the right direction and turn out to be decent but coming on here and posting this ******** after 4 league games, get a grip.
Not excusing our performance or the abject defending or Midfield or finishing but we could have had 3 points if our finishing had been anything approaching that in the Port Vale game. We created several decent chances and either fluffed them or had them saved/cleared off the line Of course but for Roberts we could easily have let in 6 as well. FWIW I think a draw would have been about right - goals change games and had Cole been a tiny bit quicker for Marshes cross or either finished his 1v1 or squared to an unmarked Watters and we brought the game back to 2-2 we could well have gone on and won it We have several problems at the moment though - Kitching, Kane and to a lesser extent Styles playing like they dont want to be here is probably the biggest, along with a central defence that looks totally disorganised and lacking any discipline. We also miss Connell of course. We are in the familiar area of losing a spine of a team we Mads Thomas and Norwood gone and Connel out its going to take time to fix that Whether Collins is able to do that remains to be seen but 4 games isnt long enough to judge We also lost both Keepers but thats the one area we seem to have covered well from the start
If Adam Phillips had buried his shot from the Jordan Williams pass, it could have been a very different game....Fine margins this Football malarkey.
Think it's more to do with the players that have been brought in, a million miles behind the ones that were sold. It was a loaded statement when Khaled said no fire sale, it didn't have to be when the players who do leave are the spine of what made us tick last season. Defence wouldn't stand firm in the national league atm. With our record of turning games around, that is extremely worrying.
After calming down. My take on things is we're going through a Play-Off hangover. I felt this is 21/22during our relegation. Schopp came in and thought all he had to do was make a few minor tweaks and implement his own style and we'd have a successful season. I reckon Collins has done the same. Unfortunately like then we have no characters or experience in the squad and key players are out injured. To me we're clearly not organised defensively and maybe need to get back to basics to register some points on the board until we rediscover our mojo.
Its weird isn't it when we look at missed chances, and say IF that had gone in, it might have been a different result etc. Port Vale could definitely say the same, despite losing by seven!. IF they had scored first, it might have been a different result etc.
