We have a smart LG tv with internet/wifi and our postman was telling me that some of his friends have iptv to watch footy.
I know nowt about it, can someone please advise me.
Is it for a tv or for laptop/mobile too?

Depends on the service you get, most can be used on smart TV, laptop, android.

The only problem is when they get shut down a lot of people pay up front as it maybe cheaper for the 12 month service but if the service gets shut down after a month then that's 70-100 quid you have lost.

I tend to pay monthly, £10.50 a month which gets me around 3000 channels from around the world.

My best advice is to do some research online and you will see the ones that have been around some time, their the reliable ones

As above, you usually get it through an app (there is one for LG TVs), on portable devices or through android boxes. You'll need to buy the box/app (if not free) and then the subscription. You'll also need a half-decent internet connection.

Subscriptions used to be sold on eBay as "12 month gifts" - a year long subscription - but you are banking on the provider not being shut down within that year - or cutting you off the day after any refund period expires.

I don't have IPTV any more so can't recommend a supplier. Do choose carefully though, better to pay £15 per month for a good service rather than £5 for a bad one. Try and get a word of mouth recommendation, perhaps from your postman!

Yeah, you need to be fairly tech savvy to use one as it will inevitably need messing about with at points.

I pay £45 per year and the service is really good, get very little downtime if any. Not always had that in the past from other suppliers. Mine also shows all EFL games, I know some others don’t. I use Amazon cube but haven’t noticed a difference between that and the cheaper firestick since I have been using it.
