Moore was appointed when they were in championship relegation zone and on a wage which was in lowest 3 in the championship. He was given a pay cut on their subsequent relegation. Therefore his demand for quadruple wages still wouldn’t have made him the biggest paid in the championship by a long chalk.
The only saving grace in appointing Collins is the target is promotion and the board won't wait too long to put him out of his misery if results don't improve.
Our most impressive firing was surely Jose Morais. When we lost that game at Derby Gauthier had sacked him off before they got back on the bus!
No. New board have only appointed Duff + Collins. Old appointed Morias, Stendel, Struber, Ismael, Schopp + Poya
Similar to schopp and poya I'm not sure of his style as yet and our shape is non existent at times but early days and a poor pre season but the warning signs are there. Hope he proves himself but Phil Collins could have organised us better for the last 3 games.
Ah, I get it. It's just that some like to say the new board is just the same as the old board and I'm pretty certain they'd have levelled exactly the same accusation at the old board. The fact is that from day one both boards have suggested they want a front foot, pressing style manager and, with the inexplicable exceptions of Schopp and Asbaghi that's largely what they've appointed. Time will tell with Collins. From what I've read about him though he's definitely no shrinking violet.
Morais wasn't the best but if he'd taken the job a month earlier we'd have stayed up. Stendel had an unbelievable first season but was way out of his depth in the Championship. Lost key players but didn't have a clue we were wide open. Struber got lucky with lockdown. Achieved a magnificent great escape. However, he was found out and the board couldn't believe their luck when New York came in for him. Ismael was pure class. Cracking Head Coach. Schopp left his leidherhausen at home but still went Morris dancing on a Saturday afternoon. Poya. I actually liked and thought he got the team well organised. It was just too negative. Especially when we went a goal up. I reckon at a top end team where everything was rosy he'd do a similar job to that Spaniard at West Brom. Duff was o.k but ultimately failed. Dropped his biggest b ol lock in the Play-Off Final playing Tedic in front of Norwood. In summary not very inspiring and a couple of appointments were made to look better than they actually were.
We were but we were on a massive slide hadn't won a game for 2 months and lost some very winnable games to teams around us.
That's interesting you think that. Because I'd have thought after a loss in the Play offs, surely the aim was to do the same again if possible. But it never looked or felt right after just a few games under Schopp, so I'm not sure whether we just wanted consolidation for the season under him.
As for the Morais relegation season.. Well I thought Hecky had totally lost the plot or just lost interest, long before he left, and he should have been sacked way before then. But its understandable I suppose, when you look at what happened to his/our squad in Jan '17. It all slowly went downhill with him after that.
Thats interesting. When it's a negative it's a new board and they have no blame for the bad things done prior to their announcement. If it's a good thing they're the same board
