Something a little light hearted for the start of the bank holiday weekend: What do the following individuals all have in common, achieved on the dates shown? 1) Alan Durban, playing for Shrewsbury away at Port Vale, 31st January 1976. 2) Duncan Forbes, playing for Norwich away at Rotherham, 29th August 1981. 3) Jim Smith, Manager, at Hillsborough, 8th April 1986. 4) Gilbert Napthine, Referee, at St James' Park Newcastle, 4th May 1987. 5) Alan Smith, Physiotherapist, at St Andrews Birmingham, 5th October 1985.
I know that three people on that list match with one particular thing but not sure about the others and don't want to spoil it for anyone else if I'm right so I'll try to be a bit vague with my answer and give just enough to show that I know. Is it something that some fans are quite proud of doing and some aim to do?
Nice one @SuperTyke. They all became (honorary) members of the 92-Club but achieved it in their "professional" roles (referees obviously not professional back then). I'm wondering if Jim Smith did it as a combination of manager/player, albeit he managed for a hell of a long time across all the divisions. How close would the likes of Graham Taylor and Dave Bassett come to doing it? Wonder if anyone in the current era will achieve it again?
