I think you're playing up to the flack you got pre kick off from one particular poster, who accused you of being a happy clapper.
McAtee certainly seems to offer something different, but Wigan were leaving a lot of gaps by the time he came on. Amusing how he missed a gaping goal then followed it up by nearly scoring from an impossible angle. Watters ran himself into the ground but it just didn't quite run for him today. Can't fault his effort. Shepherd could be a real find.
Disappointing that we didn’t have more control and possession against ten men maybe awful is being harsh and we should have been in front when it was 11 v11 if Watters could finish.
Well done Reds. Well done indeed. A young team getting to know each other and the new coaching set up. Hopefully now we can kick on. Great win. Patience needed!!
McAtee came on and gave us something that we haven’t had for a while. Someone getting on the ball and going past players. He’s looks very neat and tidy, apart from maybe that first “finish”. It’ll be interesting to see what he’s like when he doesn’t get as much space like he did today but a very promising start. I think get Luca back in that side, along with a physical striker and getting our wing backs to play as wing back and not as wingers and we’ll be up there again.
Excellent first half. Deserved all we got. Second half we failed to take advantage of the extra man. Wigan are no mugs though and they tested us. Jury still out on where this leaves us
Fair dos. Obviously I’ll take the 3 points, but so far for me I think we’ve gone backwards by some distance.
On the Shepherd ... Mick Butler & Darren Sheridan did it. I'm sure a few could think of a few more. What a composed debut in a cauldron, like the DW. Not speculating about why he was in there, but surely wasn't expecting it with Kitch & Russ Mael in front of him. He acquitted himself superbly.
I thought we played well today and deserved to win, especially after the performance against Oxford. In the build up to the match, there was almost a tsunami of negativity towards the players, coaching staff and club. For that, today's result & performance tastes that much sweeter.
Can't you just be happy with today? Got no beef with you, as I agree with a lot of your posts, including some of the signings / sales in the summer window. Today is a day to revel in a well deserved victory.
We know we're still learning new manager and new YOUNG players, glad we didn't lose or dread to think what you'd be like.
We're near Aviemore and been travelling up from Pitlochry so I've not been checking the scores or anything (dint want to spoil our day) so seeing the final score has really made my day. Spent a couple of hours with @arabian_ian in Perth yesterday, he's been to Ayr today (Dundee United won 3-0), a good day all round Aviemore's got "Thunder in the Glens" on this weekend so the town is full of hell's angel types with loads of loud heavy metal. We'll cycle in tomorrow, should be a laugh.
I don't. I think Cole is on fire this season. Only a small pun intended. Good number 10 behind him for through ball, or from the wing & I think he can hit 20+ this season. He gained confidence last season, but has a real eye for goal. Totally different player than his Dad & I doubt he'll probably reach his level, but a great striker for us, after been written off, until last season. Some players need some love & confidence, especially strikers.
Exactly this; loved seeing Wigan fans in disbelief and cheering on the Reds against all odds. Let’s give Collins time and give players our support as it makes a difference.
