I have just seen it and don't know if it is a sending off or not. He is the last man but you can't tell if he gets the ball or the man from the angle i have seen. I would be upset if it was given against us but I don't think anyone could say its a definite error.
In my opinion, he gets Cole before he gets the ball - finally, a crucial decision going our way ( line their “penalty”/dive! The ref habe some weird decisions though / in the 1st half, Cadden was taken out completely by Matt Smith - ref gave Wigan the free kick
Never a sending off but we have had so many decisions go against us like that so nice to be on the other end for once. Shame it won’t happen every game though.
I've watched it again and again and I can't decide whether their defender gets the ball then Cole or vice versa. It's a debateable one. I'm just glad that for once a debateable decision went in our favour!
I can't tell if he got the ball or not either. The ref wasn't in any doubt though, he blew right away, and if he was sure it was a foul, then it was a red. To be honest, I admire the courage of his conviction, I'd have probably given a yellow on the basis I wasn't certain it was a foul.
It's impossible to tell from the one angle that was on ifollow and Sky. When the challenge is made, you can't actually see the ball.
This reminds me of the Mads sending off against Bolton last season, and that happened to us after only 10 minutes. Can't the rules be changed somehow, so that the attacking team get a pen even when its outside the area. And the defending team don't have their player sent off. There's still the problem though maybe, what if the defender has already been booked, what happens then!!.
The highlights don't tell us much about the sending off, so obviously we've got to trust the ref. And notice it doesn't show them creating any chances at all!.
Cant give him a yellow because if it is a foul, he's the last man so that would automatically upgrade to a red mate
We also suffered at Wembley of course with a ref who was far too quick to show the red card, before even taking 10 seconds to maybe think about it. And that ref today didn't have the option of Var either.
