Did Seb Stockbridge redeem himself for the controversial red card he gave Mads Andersen last season?

Bet someone gives him a 10. Didn’t go so no mark from me

    He's got one.

I'm the same, I've listened to comms, and he didn't sound great, but without watching, I don't like to comment.

I've seen the highlights on Sky, and if their lad hasn't won the ball, the red card is spot on. Hard to tell from the angle shown.

Watched most of the match on iFollow with Wigan commentary. Was poor with decisions for both teams all over the park. Haven’t seen a replay of the red card tackle yet but based on every other decision he made it’s 50/50 whether he got it right.

Got a 3 from me. Perhaps basing it too soon, but unsure about the red. The fouls he gave against Kane and especially Cadden a little earlier on were just absolutely mind-boggling. Usually, I can sort of see the way of thinking, especially when you factor in the referees position on the pitch, but those 2... I have no idea how he came to that conclusion. Few fouls later on too where Wigan dived to con the ref. Alternately, he did give some good advantages, and the yellows he did give I think (of the top of my head) were correct.

The bias, happy side of me obviously wants to give him a 10 for that red - but you just know for a fact next week it'll be us that's got a bad decision. Perhaps it was the right decision (hopefully), but not seen it back yet.

    6 in the end.

Two crazy decisions early on. As far as I see it, it could have been a red or a yellow. He took the man & the ball from behind & was last man. Bloody hell, how many less serious decisions have we got given against us?

Rightly booked Kane & was reasonably OK the rest of the game for me. Solid 6.

We were directly in line with the Cadden foul. He was totally cleaned out, how it was a foul to them I will never know 1/10

Not sure how it can be argued as anything other than a red card?

isn’t denying a gs opportunity a red now? Because that’s what happened.

2 now, they are spoiling the concept of the thread with their ‘dishonesty’. They haven’t even got the dignity to explain why they thought he gave a flawless performance. I suspect they they haven’t even watched the game

Without having seen any replays to contradict. As cole got goal side and imo fouled. The sending off was justified and i said it b4 the red was shown. One of those with me thought the defender may have got the ball.

    6 from me.

Couple of absolutely bizarre decisions as we know.

But assuming the foul for the red card was the correct call, then it could only be a red card, so plus point for not bottling the decision. Other refs might well have, due to it being early in the game and the home team.

He also seemed to ignore plenty of examples of players looking for fouls when it was something and nothing and let the game flow well.

so, apart from those couple of really dodgy calls, and Jesus they were just bizarre, overall, he was actually OK.

As far I could see, the only way in which he denied a clear goalscoring opportunity was by making a really good tackle. I'm not sure you can send people off for that!

I assumed it was for dangerous play, or a tackle from behind or something (I don't know the rules around either of these things), because I think the defender clearly got the ball. In fact, when it happened I was a bit annoyed with Cole's awareness - it looked to me like he had time to get to his feet and still catch the one on one.

Definitely a sending off made some strange decisions for both teams though

To be fair I haven't properly rewatched it back, but I will do tomorrow and might change my mind! Just my opinion based on the live broadcast and the single replay provided there. My first thought was that it was just a fantastic tackle.

Just watched it back in slow mo. Cole gets to it first, then their lad does get a foot on the ball BUT, he then flicks his leg up to prevent coke from running on.

it’s a bit less clear than what I initially thought but I think he got it right

A red card for me - took Cole out when he was in front but then got the ball. Awful decisions re Cadden & Kane - Cadden was wiped out! One thing he got right was not falling for the “penalty “ by Mcgennis - should have booked the cheat for diving!

Woeful apart from the red. Cadden almost gets scythed in half from a flying challenge from the side right through him and ref gives Wigan a free kick.

Can't stand lazy/unfit refs who barely make it out of the centre circle for most of the game. He was stood there that much he kept getting in the way and having to blow for dropped balls.

TBF, I don’t think there are many ‘unfit’ refs about nowadays. Lazy, yes because they don’t position themselves better when they’re able to. The inconsistencies of decision making during games and in different games is nothing short of appalling. Treating players and/or teams differently for similar type offences is nothing short of cheating
