Are we expecting to sign another before the window shuts? Cole is currently joint top scorer in the division with 5 joint with waghorn but could do with a striker alongside him who is capable at this level. Marsh looked good coming on as sub Saturday but I think we could do with a partner for Cole who will also chip in with goals. Get Shaw loaned out. What's everyone's thoughts?

I think that McAtee has been brought in as a first-team regular, and in the short spell we saw him on Saturday he definitely looked ready. He certainly offers something different to what we have at the moment.

I'm think that Watters will come good, and Dallas can certainly finish. I'm just not quite sure whether his all-round game will bring enough to the team, but from what I've heard he's extremely hardworking and eager to learn. The same goes for Marsh.

If we can sign one more striker who can offer us another dimension up front, that would be great, but if we go with what we've got I'd be fine with that. I still think another centre half in the Solbauer mould is a burning priority. Shepherd was superb on Saturday, but he still showed flashes of inexperience where he got caught badly out of position, took the wrong option for a pass or clearance etc. That's only to be expected at this stage of his development, but it could have been very costly against 11 men. Relying on Shepherd every week has the potential to wreck his career as it very nearly did Jasper Moon's.

Can't really comment on Shaw as I've only seen his cameo against Port Vale.

No. Unless a few are shipped out on loan. We must have the highest quota in the Division.
    Cole
    Watters
    Dallas
    Marsh
    Iseka
    Shaw
    McAtee
And how do you know McAtee is not what we need. Impressed me yesterday when he came on. Also Phillips is capable of moving up front if necessary imo.

I'd start with Cole and McAtee next game and wager that's our first choice pairing this season.
Striker is the least of our priorities now.

Yes, we defo need another striker, preferably one with a bit of physicality. Nombe would be great as he looks to have a bit of Carlton Morris about him but I don’t see us forking out for him. Think Iseka will leave on loan and we also need to ship Shaw out some way. Maybe a Scottish club will take him?

McAtee did great but we can’t see him as the answer after 25 minutes against 10 men who were pushing up for an equaliser.

Is mcatee a striker? Or has he been brought in as we expect styles to leave? Iseka really needs to move on. Watters really needs a goal for some confidence I think.

Can't agree with you re Shephard. I'd go as far as to say our more experienced players have been caught out far more this season. I thought his reading of the game was very good. Composed and distributed the ball well.

He calls himself a striker, Collins calls him a striker, looked like a striker, I'd say he's a striker.
More of one than Watters that's for sure.

Just think it’s too early to say we don’t need another forward based on someone who’s done great playing against 10 men for 25 minutes.
Not a criticism of McAtee at all, I was impressed but still think we need another who offers something different.

Don't get me wrong, I thought he was quality. No L1 centre back is going to play a perfect game - that's why they're in L1. If Shepherd can play that well consistently for the whole season then it's problem solved.

However, for me there are two issues. Firstly, I don't think he needs to be under the pressure of not having anyone to replace him if his form does dip - I refer back too Moon, who wasn't dropped even though he clearly needed to be. Secondly, Shepherd has jumped up 5 levels. No matter how talented he is, there will be times when he comes up against experienced strikers - players in the James Norwood mould - who will just have a lot more nous than Shepherd. It's in situations like that where an older head would not go amiss to give him support and possibly replace him from time to time.

I wonder if we will sign a striker that currently plays in somebodies 1st team or will it be another unknown unproven one I will be amazed if it,s the 1st option.

All that list does for me is show how royally fecked we'd be if Cole picked up an injury. McAtee looks a good 'number 10'/Styles/Luke type and I still have an (admittedly dwindling) hope that Watters will regain his pre-Cardiff mojo but in a world where you can never have too many quality strikers (check out Plymouth last season) two who are proven eg Nombe and Cosgrove types are needed. I doubt the club shares this view and so I can only see one being brought in unfortunately which may well contribute to us falling short again. All of Dallas, Marsh and especially Shaw and Iseka can go on loan for mine.

You can’t keep bringing strikers in mate, what do you suggest bring another in and then say not sure again?
