That's an interesting angle to see it from.
Its clear that the defender lunges in, and chops our man down, whether he's going for the ball and whether it was accidental or not.

 

The foul was cynical and a rush of blood type. Probably no malice intended but panic tackles in that situationbwill always see the cards stacked against you. One of those things, Wigan will get over it

 

From that angle it looks like a foul and he is the last man so........

 

Very similar challenge, maybe slightly more borderline than the one in our game, as Cole was clean through. Reviewed by VAR & sending off confirmed. Ends any argument for me. Outcome of the game was different, which proves you still have to beat 10 men.

 

We have three frames to go off. Cole clearly got there first, defender lunged, Cole pushed the ball past him, it looks like it might have brushed the defender's heel as it skewed under his raised foot, then the leg took Cole out.

Got to love the comedy editing, intentional or not, where the loud guy shouts, "F***ing hell, every f***ing tackle" (the ref gives a foul to Wigan) and then the very next cut is a strong challenge being waved away by the ref.

I know it was against 10 men (although that doesn't usually result in a battering) I thought such impressive performances by Shepherd and when he came on McAtee.
