Just using my local Tesco’s at Stairfoot and Morrison’s at Barnsley as markers. During the course of this last 5 weeks, price per litre has gone up by 10p. Indeed, at Tesco, there were 2 increases in a week. Yes I know that they will sell more during this period, but are they ‘re-stocking’ so quickly as to have so frequent a price rise? Seems to me this inquiry into retail price rises they had not so long ago has not only made little or no difference, it has fuelled it further?
It’s the same here in Didcot. Diesel went up 12p a litre between fill ups. Admittedly, I fill up less frequently in the close season. Tesco & Sainsbury strangely see to charge exactly the same. The only difference is that club card points are marginally more attractive than nectar points.
Went to Buxton on Friday and the petrol and diesel prices varied from £1.51 to £1.56. Here in Featherstone and they are £1.43 to £1.49 , never hear owt on news about now ,or i haven't.
Most expensive I've seen in Leeds is Esso(?) in Horsforth at £155.9. Asda a few miles away £146.9. Not so long ago it was £138.9 at the same Asda.
Rip off Britain, always the same , blatant profiteering, Fishy and his pals probably hold lots and lots of shares .
Not sure as I haven’t been following the global price of oil, but does the timing of the increase at the pump coincide with the next delivery of increased price petrol from the refinery or the ‘new’ batch of imported raw product?
I've noticed they've been creeping up again. Though the disparity near me between the supermarkets and the 'premium' branded petrol stations seems to be growing too. Asda at either Manor Top or Handsworth is the cheapest for me. The closest to me was a co-op petrol station, which I used to use as it was only a penny dearer than the closest Asda. However, a month or two ago, it was taken over by Texaco. For the first couple of days, the price remained the same. They then hiked the price by 9p a litre. It's since gone up a further 6p and that's in the space of about 6 weeks.
Local mp Stephanie Peacock been banging the brum why big supermarkets in Barnsley are charging more than ones not too far away. Its simple its profiteering having our pants down plain and simple. Market forces keep prices down my arse same as when they privatised the energy firm first few years they were like cats in a sack fighting for your business then the penny dropped stop cutting our own throats just take in turns to be the cheapest and we can all have a slice of their cake. They form a cartel to make sure we Joe Public don't benefit. If they sat down and wrote the rules and regulations we run our lifes by now no one sign up for it not in a million years. End of rant.
Morrisons at Waterloo has unleaded at 147.7 at the moment. It's gone up around 15 pence in the past two months, when it was heading down in to the one twenties. Last week and this Morrisons have offered 10 points on their more card for every litre of petrol bought, but it's still more than it should be.
Perhaps we could have a cheap petrol alert on the board even though bbsers live in different areas. Might help a few folks.
Off to a slight tangent here, Morrisons have locked down Sliced ham (36 slices) to £3.00, last week it was £2.75. Not just fuel, we're being taken the pi55 out of.
