    Looked at the midfield yesterday and following some discussion on my other thread.

    Assuming a defensive midfielder, a creative/passing midfielder and an attacking midfielder to score goals which 3 are you selecting out of

    Russell
    Connell
    Benson
    Kane
    Styles
    Wolfe
    Phillips

    assuming all are fit/playing to potential/want to be here.

    Styles international player and sought after by championship clubs doesnt get in to a starting 11, its some squad we have

    Can't see Wolfe getting anywhere near, will need a loan away to get his career back on track. Could end up like another Digby.

    Styles should be absolutely bossing this league with goals and assists, whilst his performances haven't been bad you wouldn't pick him out as the top international in our midfield.

    Pretty sure those 3 played the majority of the games last season while we still had Mads Norwood Isted and Thomas and we missed out on promotion with super Duff as manager so not exactly not even close I hope.

    Russell, Connell, Phillips. Russell impressing me more and more each game. If Styles genuinely is interested and wants to play for us then he may take one of those positions (probably not Connell's) but I don't think he wants to be here.

    Usually would have straight away said Connell Kane and Phillips with no hesitation but the current form of Russell make it's much trickier imo.

    Connell when fit is still our best midfielder.

    Then you need Kane or Russell alongside him with Phillips/Styles or even McAtee ahead of those as the attacking options.

    We certainly are not lacking quality options in midfield.

    Was it not complicated enough?
    I saw him at the Athersley Rec game a couple of weeks ago and he was still wearing some sort of brace/scaffolding around his leg so don’t think this season will be his big break through.
