I just don't understand everyone's glee at the sums involved and what we could buy with it. We have no evidence whatsoever that we will reinvest incoming transfers into the equivalent value of new players. I don't know where the fees go, but to date they haven't gone on playing staff.

no need to sell him , and at this stage we wouldnt be able to replace him , so why sell if we are serious about going for promotion .

There's so much more to running a football club than transfer fees. The money is reinvested into the general running of the club to keep us operating.

Depends if it's nearer 4 million bank transfered by the end of the day. I suspect it's more four million with 2 million now, million next summer and 500k for the last two summers.

We see a fee rejected but have no idea how it's been structured.

Yes, I fully understand that, I was commenting to highlight that fact to those that don't, those that haven't noticed that income from transfers does not equal spend on transfers.

More like him thinking about what he's going to spend his new found wealth on.

I’d let him go for the £4m quoted with a couple of appearances & sell on clauses inserted into the deal. Get someone experienced in on loan for the time being to cover, then maybe look at permanent signings in January window. Too late in the day now…

Of course some of it is reinvested in the playing staff. We paid a fee for pretty much every player last summer, and a few this. Then there's the wage bill. The board are still putting money in to keep the club afloat. It's obvious where the money is going. Football clubs are expensive money pits. We always seem a bit tighter with the purse strings because we're trying to be self sufficient, many clubs aren't.

Because normally we hear about a player about to leave. Normally zero info except rumours persist about the figures in the sale. So everyone gets a bit peeved because of our history of selling under value etc.

For once, we have from 3 reputed reporters a 4 million figure....

As you can see from this thread alone, everyone seems ok with selling if we get that amount. Had kitching gone today for example, and the usual "for an undisclosed fee" trotted out. Most of the very same people who are accepting of 4 million would not be happy. And I'd be in this very scenario I'm describing.

So maybe the club have let that out to gauge opinion. And if tomorrow he does then go before the deadline and we know it's 4 million, we know we did alright. Granted there's replacements required, but I think most are realising that 4 million is quite decent for us.... For once.

If that's a genuine bid he'll be gone by the end of the night.

Ground improvements. We may have an average team but we also have a modern state of the art ground…

Possibly. Certainly none of it is leaving the club.

Did I dream this but going back to the middle of last season were a lot on here saying Kitching was a liability, erratic, terrible passing and not good enough but now a short time later he's better than mads and worth £5m
