Old enough to have facial hair, with over 200 games under his belt, experience of winning a league title and 2 domestic cups, and 4 games in Europe, and he's not good enough for some because he's played for Rotherham. Brilliant!
I'm happy about Kayode Strong, quick, athletic- a bit Morris about him Squads starting coming together And yes we needed more experience
Let's break that down a little...... League winner.....played 8 times for Orient, 2 of which were as a sub, when they won L2. 2 domestic cups......Scottish ones with St.Johnstone. 4 games in Europe....Europa Conference....2 legs against LASK , losing 3-1 and 2 legs against Galatasaray, losing 5-3....which I imagine is the highlight of his career. And the 8 league games he played for Rotherham, 7 of them were as a sub. I'm not saying he's not quite ready for our level, but I just don't think he's ready to replace a £5m CH. Kitching, Andersen, Thomas for De Frenchguy, Shepherd and McCart. We'll see.
Depends on the context of his signing for me. If he's here to add depth and be a rotation option for Kitching etc. Then no issues as he's ready to go right from the off, and has experience etc. However, if we are expecting Kitching to leave and this is the replacement then it's a bit of a worry. He couldn't lock down a place in L2 with Leyton Orient as a regular starter so it's hardly promising if he's expected to jump in to replace our current captain.
That's the point! Honestly, I often wonder whether people forget what division we're in. However, had we signed him from someone like Middlesbrough, I'm certain people would have been over the moon.
We're not expecting Kitching to leave though are we? In the same interview where Collins has said we've signed a centre half, he's also said we're not expecting any key players to leave. And then it was revealed that we've turned down £4m.
No we aren't and khaled said we won't sell anyone a few weeks back so I will believe what he says. But we don't know what will happen tomorrow before deadline, if a mega offer comes in will they accept?
Usually I'd absolutely agree but on deadline day it leaves us without time to bring in what we want. We'd then have to get to January with what we have and spend there which is notoriously a harder window to buy in. It's a very tricky position. Had this bid come a few weeks ago I'd be 100% in agreement that anything above 4 million is a fantastic deal.
Same with all players people where shocked the bloke at Exeter chose Rotherham over us, championship club probably, pay more. If we had signed tedic from Rotherham and he gave the performances he did people would give his time here a whole different spin.
I don't think the issue is that he is from Rotherham, but that he is presumably deemed by Rotherham not to be good enough for them.
