I have mentioned before how Sollbaeur and Norwood cases are very similar, signed an older player, pushed them out after a year or so, then replace them with someone 10 years younger

Im not saying their not better than Conway but they have the same general strategy and you can see the same errors

I don’t think we pushed either of those 2 players out.

I thought last year was very encouraging, but this window (and to a degree the January window) has seemed quite random.

At the end of last season, it was clear we would need to do something to fill a void left by Andersen, as we would have to sell him. I wasn't expecting us to get somebody as good as him, but we needed experience and leadership bringing in. We then signed Loparta, Shepherd and de Gevigney. We've since signed McCart, but his recent record seems like he's struggled to get games. Add to this the signings of O'Keefe and Lofthouse on top of Williams and Cotter, loaned out Shaw in the next window after we signed, still looking for a striker when we have signed 2 already in this window on top of Marsh and Jalo pushing for the first team.

It does feel like we're back to hoovering up players under 25, who will effectively be blocking each other's paths, while we don't have a proper leadership group within the squad. Suspect this contributed to Duff's decision to move on.

On the flip side, the contracts for Phillips and Connell were very pleasant surprises. The intentions of this board appear to be sound, but the execution, on the face of it, looks like it leaves a lot to be desired at the moment.

I’m glad we haven’t broken it. Fees are largely irrelevant for many clubs, especially in the Bosman era. Wages are the key to a players worth.

Millwall owner died the other month in a car crash.

I think things will be changing now down there. He apparently was a great character and did a lot for the club. Not sure they can fill that hole he left, financially. Nor am I sure what provision was made in his will etc.

    Ah, i’d not seen that.

Mind you, depends on how good the son turns out to be. It could go either way long term.
