Yet again no real captain material in the squad, another reason to keep Norwood

If you listen to him speaking, he doesn't appear to have two brain cells to rub together. I'd give it to Cadds all day long.

At least people won't be spelling his name incorrectly in the future when he's gone. Kitching not Kitchen

That's a decent call, although I think his West Country accent doesn't help him.

Why do people on here keep stating over and over that if we don’t spend the incoming transfer fees on new players, we’re not reinvesting in the team. How many times does it have to be repeated that there are a myriad of costs associated with running the club, other than just transfer fees. The board are not taking the money out of the club, I believe, so it is in fact being reinvested in BFC.

Exactly, we don't want to end up like a few other teams living beyond their means.

Liam Kitching has developed into a really excellent player. However, I'm still not convinced he's a great defender. More than that, we've just got £5 million for a defender who is completely unproven at Championship level. In fact I'll go further than that. He looked absolutely shocking during most of his games at that level. Now that doesn't tell the whole story of course, and he's likely to be far better equipped now to make the step up than he was two years ago. However, if we were in Coventry's shoes, I'd at least be extremely cautious if we were paying £5 million quid for a 3rd division defender. Not even a striker, who command a premium. A defender.

I'm well aware that this weakens us quite a bit and I'm not particularly thrilled about it. I really hope that Liam Kitching goes on to play in the Premier League, but I can't see it personally. With that in mind, this may well be the highest transfer fee he ever moves for in his career. Sadly, I think we'd have been nuts to turn it down.

So we have taken transfer fees of about 10 million quid this year. I don’t expect us to invest even half of that but where precisely are we investing even 25% of that n the team?

This. We do need to look to reinvest the fee this time whether that’s now or in January.

I don't think it's a true valuation, I think it's a massively overinflated valuation. Criminally overinflated. We've conned another football club.

We've never been able to spend the kind of money that is being talked about for Liam Kitching. However, if our time in the sun was 2023, rather than 1997, if we were doing a Luton and had the funds available to us that a Premier League team now have, and we spunked £4 million on Liam bleeding Kitching, I'd personally hang our board of directors from the Town Hall Clock.

We spent our money on Ashley Ward, and Jan Aage Fjortoft, and Darren Barnard, and Craig Hignett, and Neil Sipperley, and yes, there were a couple who didn't quite work out like Hristov, but bloody hell did he have some talent. If we were spending that sort of money on Liam Kitching my brain would melt. The lad can't defend. I like him, he's nuts and entertaining, but there's some basic parts of the game he just cant do.

Best bit of business we've ever done if the money we're reading about is true.
