Phillips in the 11 regardless. His stats are ridiculous from midfield

Very unbalanced squad. We have an abundance of midfield options with some of our bench options getting into most L1 starting lineups. Defence is very worrying. Attack seems strong

Wouldn't drop Shepard after his performances. Granted, I'm not a fan of pressuring him into the starting 11, but whilst he's performing well, he keeps his spot, like any other player

At this moment in time Marsh would be on the bench in place of Watters for me.

I'd be starting McAtee today. He showed enough, albeit briefly and against 10 men to deserve that.

No idea, but if all fit I'd play Connell, Russell and Phillips in midfield. I also accept that a completely different combination might be just as strong, and possibly even a four, with one striker and two midfielders behind him. I think we have a wealth of talent in that position.

I'd want to protect our defence as much as possible until they get up to speed and I think Connell and Russell are the best players we have to do that, and, unusually for this league, can do that job and have a fair bit of skill too.

Not a bad side with a fantastic bench and a number of good players not even making the bench

Yes i would see it as a team that can finish anywhere between 15th and 5th.

Where we end up will be down to management. We are extremely weak at the back.

However we are very strong in midfield and have a top half forward line.

Championship and Premier league standard players play in the championship or Premier league.
The lower league players strive to play in the top two divisions. I'm sure Williams Lopata Shepherd etc striving for the same thing.
Kitching Thomas and Anderson have all achieved that.
Championship and Premier League players don't generally strive to play league 1 football.
How many of our matchday squad are not league 1 standard?

Phillips starts. Connell no where near ready.

Doubt there will be more one or two changes from the starting line up at Wigan TBH.

That would be mine for today. But longer term you’d be fitting Connell in there, for either Russell or Kane. Then Cosgrove in for McAtee with Jalo or Marsh missing out of the squad.
