Been to watch our local Sunday League team. (Barnsley Sunday League.) I'm the club Secretary, so can't avoid it. Drew 2-2 with the Pack Horse from Royston. Unfortunately out newly formed B team lost 9-0 at Hoyland Social. Onwards and upwards.
Have to say in 30+ years of playing the game (I'm 44 this year) I have never walked off the pitch. Felt like it a few times, however.
Sounds like a great day, I go walking round that area and always pass the X1 Bus on route, been gonna do it all summer but still haven't got round to it.
I played at darfield for many years. Only played at fishlake once. Went quite a few times with junior players. It is a long way especially after work.
Yes X1 goes round a few villages so it’s an interesting bus ride from Durkar particularly when you don’t go on buses very often like me
Me too mate, can't remember the last time I caught a bus, definitely looks like a good day out though Holmfirth is a lovely place on a sunny day, always jealous when I drive past the Old bridge hotel with loads sat outside drinking.
Slightly off ya subject but on Thursday I walked from Shepley post office to Farnley Tyas and back... beautiful
Spent an our hand a half getting my Dad dressed & into the lounge for lunch at the care home. About 0.001 miles per hour.
I was playing at 48. Bit part bowler, bit part batter. Shi7 hot fielder. My 15 yo was promoted to play with the big Misters. He went in at 5 and was going well. I went in at 7 to join him, emotional and bursting with pride. Ran him out, first ball. He still brings it up occasionally
Had a lovely couple of hours down at the club this afternoon with my 2 year old. Every summer a local brass band have a game of cricket between themselves and we let them use our ground for nowt (we make money from food/drink). They’re a lovely bunch and have a great day. One of the lads fired the barbie up and a few of the regulars went down for a beer and a burger. Had a great time and it’s all money back to the club which gets reinvested into the facilities. Would strongly recommend going down to your local club on a summer’s day where it’s a safe space for families.
