Any other comments Paul? People probably thought that about the mens league at one time. Look how popular WSL and the womens internation game is now compared to 10 years ago? I guarantee it's grown massively especially in this country. Players like Leah Williamson, Lucy Bronze, Mary Earps and our very own Beth England wouldn't have got the praise they deserve 15-20 years ago and they wouldn't have had the platform to be idols and heroes to the young girls watching them play the sport they were told for so long they were the wrong gender to play. Who's to say where it will be in 10 years time? But i can guarantee being brought into a professional club like Barnsley FC will help our womens team grow and gain popularity, recognition and status and i for one am glad we're all together under the umbrella of Barnsley FC.
Oak-well, it'll never take off, it's Grove Street, bloody Londoners coming up here.... 7 year olds were heard bellowing "I've finished my shift darn t'pit early to watch this sh!te" A man holding a donkey was overheard saying, "walked him from Blackpool, summart abart a mascot, nivver ageean"
I'd say that to expect too much at the level these girls are playing at with the lack of support they've had along, no doubt with many other teams at that level, the standard was never going to be high. The fact is though that they're pulling on a BFC shirt, have become an integral part of the club and deserve everyone's patience and support. Get behind them. If enough do it could be an exciting journey for them.
Took my little un’ today, standard wasn’t great but it’s a new venture essentially, thought our RWB and No8 looked well, defensively a thought we looked steady away, up front seemed weak but a good occasion and it must’ve been great to walk out for them today……..fair play to JAQ In driving it forward yoo
Grown men slating the fitness & ability of a group of young, amateur women that they've had little to no support/coaching or help on potentially the biggest day of their life. Hope you've not got daughters, or at the very least they don't read you talking b.llocks on the internet.
'Bloody heavy handed stewards, spilt me pint o mild and nicked me rattle clapper. West stand bogs are a bit Georgian'
And the abuse she takes on twitter is unbelievable, uncalled for and plain ignorant imo!! A get that things could maybe be a touch better with certain areas but a do honestly think that they have clubs best interests at heart
Travelled down from Leeds with my wife and 15yo daughter who has played since U8s. Neither of them would be considered (or consider themselves) remotely emotional. Looked round as the team came out with Beyonce blasting out the tannoy and were both bawling. Great stuff. Also great to see another similarity with the mens team in that the game kicked off 3 minutes late. Never change reds.........
If the mens team do well this season then atleast we can moan about the women's team and blame Khaled and JAQ for that
"Sorry dont get all the hype" isn't really an opinion, it's just yet another boring attempt to garner attention for yourself. So what? I don't get the hype about cricket, f1 or sumo wrestling. I wouldn't go out of my way to judge it in my next comment, what is the point? It's nothing constructive. It's a pointless post. Please just keep your boring negativity in the men's game, where you and a couple of others on here constantly love slinging mud. I'm sure loads of young girls watched the ladies today on that pitch of their beloved team playing football and felt in awe. Motivated, joyous, encouraged. Would you recommend just not allowing it because "YOU dont see the hype" Think it's time I took a break from this site, because I feel like I'm just snapping constantly due to such stupidity/nastiness/negativity
The thread title made me think it was Georgi Hristov’s new quote. I will be watching the red ladies when I get chance. Football is football, Barnsley is Barnsley.
But they've got to start somewhere Great to see Dorothy Human, Callum Simpson etc at the launch This isn't professional football btw so the standard won't be great. Its going to take time, academies etc to get the skill set. Another thing that struck me is that ime girls like to do a lot of extra curricular stuff and maybe won't be as dedicated just to football as perhaos a 10 year old boy might be. Be interesting to see how things go but I for one enjoyed the fact that they got to play at Oakwell and had a good crowd supporting them.
Sorry I should have put a smiling face winking emoji. Saying that I am always happy to have dig at moaning negative nonsense. It was a great day for Barnsley, 2000 fans at Oakwell for our first ever women's game, well done all
