:) Tried to link from video article on Guardian site but didn't work. Basically they're balancing ball on foot, player runs forward and ball is then passed, with ball not having touched floor

Not sure that the offside rule has anything in it about the ball touching the ground. If so then it’s a new one for meo_O

Basically it's from when ball is first touched. So rolling it onto foot is the initial touch, then balance, run forward and pass

This brings up the topic ive raised before. They measure the offside in mm and finite detail using two lines which it seems can be manually set. Then how do they measure when the ball is first touched by the passing player. It seems to me this can add or take away the offside / onside position dramatically.

He used his hand to balance the ball on his foot, I'm pretty sure that's still not allowed? ;)

You're still relying on the officials knowing the rules.

Basically be Mo Salah. I thought this happened a couple of times yesterday. Salah offside when balled passed to another Liverpool player who then either passes to Salah who is no longer offside for the second pass but has gained an advantage in field position or draws defenders to him and other player gains an advantage. A generalisation but...Bloke who sits near me at games says"If he's not interfering with play, what the hell is doing on the pitch"
