I seem to recall that the Silkstone was one of few that Wetherspoons decided to sell/ offload in Yorkshire. Does anyone know who has taken it ? Incidentally, they are just to start a £3m refurb in Wakefield at the Six Chimneys and the pub they’ve bought next door. It’s going to be a big unit and seems to undermine that Wetherspoons were selling rather than expanding.
Saw it yesterday looks like it’s going to showing tnt and sky sports so hopefully will have some decent beer at good price
Me too... I played darts for the Royal Albert on Platts Common and the Kestrel was in the same league.
They appear to be an investment company, who have a number of pubs in and around Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire spread across a number of linked companies. The thing with Wetherspoons pubs, are that they usually have been converted/fitted out to a high standard. So if they are still doing ok with trade, they can make a decent pub to take on, as a lot of the hard work has been done already. Just got to keep on top of it. Think there are another 2 floors above the Silkstone which they own and are empty. Could be turned into something further.
