If Wikipedia is accurate he was on 18 grand at Brum , what do we reckon Reds are paying him .Just guesswork but I think 8 grand plus a signing on fee or a whack of his remaining contract at Birmingham.
I'd be surprised if we're paying that for him, however I do think we've done well to sign him, when you consider the alleged interest in him. Plymouth were rumoured to be back in for him, obviously they're in the Championship, and whilst they have been very shrewd with their business the last few years, you'd imagine they'd be able to offer him better terms than us. Derby were also said to be interested in January too, with a swap deal between Cosgrove and Bielik being mentioned. Bielik has since signed for Birmingham permanently. So I reckon he had suitors. I wonder whether Birmingham were willing to pay up his remaining contract, what with him leaving on a free, which might have offset his wage demands a bit.
cosgrove cancelled his contract at birmingham according to my mates who are blue noses just to get first team football
Whatever we got for Norwood as a signing on fee and then 5k a week. Promotion wage rise clause, probably a minimum release fee of 2 million as well.
He was on 18k and whilst he’d have taken a big cut I very much doubt it’s to much less than 5k a week. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more. The transfer fees brought in were said to be used to fund the football side - not just on outgoing fees but also wages. If he’s on big money, we really ought to match offer it to Cole as well to tie him up longer. So long as it’s affordable.
Been wondering what you were all on about until the penny just dropped. Until now I was under the misapprehension that he was another loan signing!
I don't think he would have come for that low amount , he could av sat at Birmingham until a decent offer came his way , I agree with others who say over 5 grand and a sign on , he obviously wants to be playing but not for 16 grand a week less, about 1, 5 million over 2 years .
Can see him and Cole been the 2 main strikers come December. Like how he cancelled his contract wanting to play football.
Nah, chelentham towns highest earners are on just under 2k, a lot of our lads will be on double or more
18k a week for a striker who never really established himself is absolutely nuts money no wonder brum are usually in financial problems on a regular basis. No way I can imagine he was being paid that tbh.
R.e using the transfer money in. Just as a (reasonable ?) example, a squad of 18 players averaging £3k a week has a wage bill of £2.8 million. Add on bonuses, coaching staff wages, youth team and office wages, it's probably closer to £4 million. That's a big chunk of what we have received just on wages.
This is why I'm so excited for this signing. He could have easily sat it out on his good championship wages for the remainder of his contract, getting some random loan moves here and there but he's actively pushed to move here and cancelled this contract to sign on a lower wage just to play. That's the sort of attitude I want from players signing for this club.
He’s our marquee signing that’s clear. Let’s hope he hits the ground running & helps gain promotion, then it’s money well spent
