It’s only a club ban, they’re not worth the paper they’re written on. If you want to attend games just buy a ticket, they’ll not have a clue. A football banning order is a whole different kettle of fish, that’s enforced by the police on behalf of the government. A club ban is basically the owners of the football club saying you can’t enter the ground, but if you did they wouldn’t know and they can involve the police but they can only eject you from the stadium. I know a lad who got a club ban, he got a season ticket the year after. I really wouldn’t sweat it.
I was but we are not all the same, I show it in different ways, I said "I apologised If I offended anyone, it was not my intention", you know sod all about be but feel free to judge, we all do it.
I wasn't trying to suggest that just sometimes we need a bit prospective I know there's been times ive needed someone to tell I'm right or wrong on a issue, a honest opinion from someone who knows you.
You were by the dugout in the stand or you went through/over the wall and were stood by the dugout by the side of the pitch?
Jesus I once gave Steve Parkin some gob there about having a plan B at 4 0 down. I should have been banned. However I didn't swear at him as much as I wanted to.
Sounds like a self imposed lifetime ban to me when it might have been just for a match, but if you don’t hang about to find out you’ll never know.
Surely this is the crux of the matter! You weren't there as a "supporter" you were in a part of the stadium not open to the public and thus were being regarded as a representative of the club so your "punishment" cant be compared to those of other "supporters" in similar circumstances in other parts of the ground.
It's like the time I was sentenced to having my foot amputated for speeding. By which I mean the policeman started writing a ticket so I went home and cut off my foot.
A long winded way of saying “cutting your nose of to spite your face” but I like it. All things considered, this seems like one hell of a flounce
Honestly? You've never behaved irrationally or shown yourself up a bit at the football? Never unreasonably lost your rag and said things you regret? Away from here i'm one of the calmest, politest, people you could come across. I have a job where i have to constantly pretend not to be a dick and the most respectful children you could ever meet. But i reckon there's at least 20 times in my life when i've shown myself up big time at the football, swearing, totally irresponsible, totally irrational and to my shame using language that would make a navvy blush. Anyone who can't say that either has Zen like self control, or they simply don't care about our club the same way some of us do.
Am I right in thinking it went like this? You used your pass after the game to enter a restricted area of the stadium, specifically the dugout area and north side of the west stand. At some point as you walked along the restricted area you were angry at the performance and started shouting abuse at the players in general. Williams came over to calm you down and you had a conversation that turned quite civil ending in you shaking hands. Someone who had witnessed it all came over and took your pass off you. Today you had a meeting with the club's safety officer about the incident and during it you didn't show enough remorse and didn't justify your actions well enough in the club's eyes. The safety officer told you that your pass for access to restricted areas was permanently revoked and informed you that you would also be recieving a stadium ban. At this point, and before they elaborated on what the ban would entail or how long it would last, you slammed your season ticket down ob the desk and walked out vowing never to return. Is that a fair assessment?
The difference is you are seen as representing the club here. Your comment about your job is exactly how you should behave in that capacity - in that capacity you can’t expect to exhibit behaviour like you did and not have to suffer consequences. They cant sack you as you’re not employed, so that’s why it’s a ban - as punishment. They probably had no issues before the incident, but if you’re telling them that’s you and your character then I’m afraid I for one am not surprised the club acted as they did. Sorry.
I’ve never shouted profanities at a football match but I might have to start if it makes me a proper fan.
Who did you meet with? I'd have probably done the same tbf. We've got racists attending games but you've been hauled in for a few passionate effs and jeffs because you care. Remember when Brek Shea gave the finger to half the Barnsley end and the abuse he got back? The language that was used? No bans there from what I remember. Just another notch on the bedpost of the current regime.
Anyone more confused after reading this thread than before they started it. Probably just me easily done.
